    First batch of Playstation 3 “Essential Collection” games revealed

    According to Amazon France, Sony Computer Entertainment will be releasing several Playstation 3 games under the “Essential Collection” branding including several big-named first-party games such as God of War III (you can check out some screens from the open-world action-adventure game in the slideshow at the top of this article).

    You can take a look at the first batch of “Essential Collection” games for the Playstation 3 below:

    • Dance Star Party
    • Eyepet & Friends
    • God of War 3
    • Heavenly Sword
    • Heavy Rain
    • inFamous
    • MAG
    • Medieval Moves
    • MotorStorm
    • Move Fitness
    • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
    • Resistance: Fall of Man
    • Resistance 2
    • Start the Party!
    • The Fight

    With the exception of Heavy Rain and Resistance 2, which are both coming out on November 7th, all of the “Essential Collection” games mentioned above will be re-released in Europe on September 19th. Although the pricing for the Playstation 3 re-releases has not yet been revealed, Sony Computer Entertainment dropped the price down to £9.99 for the “PSP Essentials” games.

    Big bump for all these games soon across Europe then, good move by Sony with the trilogies and now these extremely cheap games.

    Assuming the Essential Collection games come out with all the DLC then they are worth it.

    Read the article. These aren't Greatest Hits/Platinum releases, they are essentials, further reduced in price.

    Platinum = £14.99 - £17.99
    Essentials = £9.99

    If Greatest Hits are priced at $29.99, then I guess Essentials will be $19.99.

    The only games on that list that I haven't play and am actually interested in are Heavenly Sword and Heavy Rain.

    Unless this is a Europe-only thing. In that case, fuck it haha.

    Man, in time when the PS3 is like €150 and people can get games for €12, especially when more of the range jump on (the Uncharteds etc)...That's some badass savings for the late adopters.

    Because the game might still not have broken even getting to 1 million, so it seems that:

    1m = Platinum
    5m = Essentials

    Plus the essentials will probably have a better cover than the ugly Platinum case.

    I think MAG will have a hard time selling even for £9.99 :

    Nah but this is pretty awesome of late comers to the PS3. Once the system itself has it's priced slash, which'll be nearer to when Orbis is out, then they'll fly off the shelves.

    But if they quietly do that then people do not know about the games, its all about marketing.
