SourceFinal Fantasy VII has been confirmed for PC re-release today, with the new version packing fresh online features including achievements, a “Character Booster” and cloud saving.
Final Fantasy VII is coming to PC, Square Enix has said today. The announcement brought the game’s site to its knees.
No release date or price has been confirmed. Square told VG247 today that “we will be issuing more information within the next 24 hours.”
The revamp will include now “a host of new online features”. Achievements are to be included, of which there are 36, as is something called the “Character Booster”.
“With the Character Booster you can increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum, all with the simple click of a button, leaving you to enjoy your adventure,” said the site.
The game will support cloud saving: “With cloud save support in Final Fantasy VII you can continue your game progress right where you left off, all you need is an internet connection.”
Minimum specs for the new version are:
- Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit)
- 2GHz Processor or faster
- 1GB RAM
- DirectX 9-compatible graphic card
The PC version of FFVII will release “soon,” and will be available exclusively through the Square Enix store. It’ll be shipped in English, French, German and Spanish.
A Final Fantasy VII remake has been rumoured and begged for since time immemorial. Square president Yoichi Wada recently poured water on the talk, however, saying the project could kill the franchise.
I don't know if my PC will be able to run this game. Just kidding, of course.![]()

So wait..they must be making some other improvements to the game..cause those specs are much higher than what is needed to play the original game.
Unless it is just for higher resolutions?
Regardless I will likely buy this, making it the 3rd copy of this game I have. (PS1/PSN/PC)Trophy-licious!

2GHz is low spec thesedays and with processor clocked at 4GHz out the factory and it doesnt specify what spec Core 2 Duo or sandy bridge and 1GB RAM is bugger all, I had 1GB RAM in 2004.
Does it look any better? I only saw what looked like FMV clips int he video.Last edited by keefy; 07-04-2012 at 19:28.

The question that comes to mind is: will pc achievements translate into trophies for the vita compatibility rerererererrrrrrerererealese? Also, don't let it get passed S-E to pull a dick move and make you re-buy the PSN version for the Vita with the claim "yes but this one is different!!!" instead of patching trophies in the existing PSN version (if they bothered adding those achievements for already released PSN version to begin with)

Though its my fav game of all time I'm happy with the digital version I have from the store I had the original non platinum edition years ago but sold it to a games collector for £250 I only ever played it once and just played the platinum version all the time after that
I hate that trailer though I remember the original on TV when I first even heard of FF7 it was on a Demo 1 disc I got with my PlayStation had some really cool classical music with itLast edited by Nakatomi Uk; 07-04-2012 at 23:23.

"with character booster you can increase your HP,MP and Gil levels to their maxim"
For the life of me, I don't quite understand why u would need a booster for this game, as it is easy and crap with the exceptions of the final area and the extra bosses. I guess there just throwing it in just to call it an extra feature.

No shit? you serious? And here I was wondering was I was not earning trophies with all the PSone classics I purchased!!!!!!
FFVII PC re-edition has been updated for windows XP and newer with both 32-64 bits support AND ACHIEVEMENTS... Who knew games could be PATCHED!?!?!?!?
Here are some games that were released with NO TROPHIES for PS3 and got PATCHED with trophy support///
Burnout Paradise, Warhawk, The Eye Of Judgment, Uncharted 1, Unreal Tournament 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, Singstar and Battlefield: Bad Company were patched for trophies
It is not in the realm of impossibility that S-E could patch the PSN version before Vita suport with the same achievements they just did with the PC... Not saying they will and they probably wont but never say NEVER, it's been done before and with move support as well!!!When the Bogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

I agree, its the easiest FF game from ~X.
Yeah but those are PS3 games, not PS1 Classics, there's a difference. FFVII on PSN is not a new release, it is a rerelease to be emulated on the PS3 and PSP (which doesn't even do trophies), and the emulator isn't capable of trophies since it locks out pretty much everything other than you still being signed in to PSN, you can't even access the ingame XMB.
So basically, if you want FFVII trophies, then you'll have to wait for a remake, Steam probably requires it thus they threw it in there.

Do you think this means the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII is starting up again? They took a break after Advent Children Complete.

There is another article somewhere which I can't find where Wada said the compilation would run til the game's 20th anniversary in 2017.Trophy-licious!

I'm gonna make a wild prediction and say they're bringing FNC to PC and a demo for XIII or XIII-2 is bundled with the FFVII download. That's really all I can think of because those specs are way OTT.
As for the Compilation, I have to say that so far I've much preferred the prequels to the sequels.

Same..though I really wish they would release Before Crisis in some shape or form in the west. I'd rather play the story than read what happens.
