SourceToriyama hints at Final Fantasy XIII-3
Final Fantasy XIII-3 coming before Versus XIII?
by Sal Romano [@salromano] at 10:48 AM EDT, July 5, 2012 .
We thought Square Enix started teasing Final Fantasy XIII-3 last month, but a recentFamitsu interview with Final Fantasy XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama at GDC Taipei came with a hint far clearer.
Asked if anything Final Fantasy XIII related would be announced at the upcoming 25th anniversary Final Fantasy event (an art gallery in Shibuya), he responded: “I think the Lightning DLC had an ending that left a feeling of mystery and hope. The day when the meaning of this will become known is coming in the near future.”
According to our pals Alex Donaldson and Erren Van Duine, both of RPGSite, aFinal Fantasy XIII-3 is being planned for release before Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Of course, take that as rumor until confirmed.
Asked for a status update on Final Fantasy X HD, Toriyama said: “With regard to HD conversions, I think there are many places to be verified, so please wait a little more.”
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

Me neither! XIII-2 was tons of fun. If only the story had been told in a better way...but gameplay wise, it was ace!

That event better announce a release date and reveal a demo for both versus 13 and Final Fantasy X HD.

Maybe I should try XIII-2. I absolutely hate XIII and pretty much lost hope for another quality FF game.

Honestly starting to lose my liking of Square. They keep developing games that NOONE WANTS (That FF rhythm game, FFX-2, many other side games), while the two games we DO want that they are working on just get pushed to the back burner. :/

Oh, it's not a rumor. We all know this game is coming.
But I'm more interested in Final Fantasy Versus XIII and even Final Fantasy X HD than yet another sequel to Final Fantasy XIII. I know there are people who enjoyed the games but Square Enix really needs to consider downsizing the amount of projects they work on.
Look at Polyphony Digital. They release two Gran Turismo titles for each generation of PlayStation consoles, including one for a handheld device. And that was enough to satisfy gamers. At the rate Square Enix is going right now, we won't see Kingdom Hearts III until the next generation. We shouldn't have to wait that long.
I also wish people like Hiroyuki Ito and Hironobu Sakaguchi were still developing these games. I know Motomu Toriyama worked on Final Fantasy X, which I enjoyed, but Square Enix could do better. Especially with the stories - a staple element for any JRPG franchise.Last edited by Blacksite; 07-06-2012 at 05:56.

^ My thoughts exactly.
Fans have been waiting for Versus for quite a while, and have been very vocal about that fact. They should invest more of their time and resources into their current projects rather than stretching the 13th title across 3 (or more, which I wouldn't doubt) games.__________

Seriously!?!?!
I am going to be legit outraged if they put out FF13-3 BEFORE Versus 13. What the hell has gone wrong with Square Enix? FFvs13 and kingdom hearts 3 are basically the only 2 games that the vast majority are looking for. Yet for some reason, they keep making all these stupid games no one wants.
FFvs13 was showcased along side FF13 and yet FF13 and FF13-2 have both released and now talks of FF13-3 and STILL no fucking news on FFvs13 or even a hint at a release date???? FF13 didn't have much appeal to the masses and didn't FF13-2 sell horrible? This must be some DLC he's talking about or at least I sincerely hope so. I can not imagine that a third installment to a crappy FF universe is a very smart if not plan retarded.
Then for Kingdom Hearts, everyone keeps asking over and over for KH3 but all we keep getting is spinoff after spinoff after spinoff....I really think they are going to skip this entire generation for KH entirely.
This also doesn't help that the last guardian feels like it's also becoming vaporware. It isn't square enix I know, but, it really makes me feel like Japanese developers this gen are completely and totally garbage and have no idea what they are doing anymore.Last edited by WretchedSoul21; 07-06-2012 at 10:17.

well, I knew it, I knew 13-3 would release before versus, I called it. ROFL! right now I am going to call bullshit on FF:versus, it's just not going to happen. S/E has been pretty lame this gen of consoles, I would probably rate them at the bottom of the pile of crappy developers. they aren't worse but they certainly are not any better either in terms of RPG's. They have really dropped the ball, they use to be the king of RPG's and the only reason they are even noticed for these consoles is because of the severe lack of RPG's in general from other developers.
