PlayStation Mobile powers Left 4 Dead on Vita

    YouTube user
    digitalarts001
has used PlayStation Mobile to power PC and Xbox 360 game Left 4 Dead on Vita. The video, below, shows Valve's zombie shooter running on the handheld, complete with motion input to move the camera. It looks like digitalarts001 has written an app for Vita, using PlayStation Mobile, that connects to a remote version of Windows and plays Left 4 Dead on Steam over a local network with little lag.digitalarts001 has published a number of videos of games running on Vita, including Super Mario Bros. 3, Final Fantasy 10 and Metal Gear Solid.PlayStation Mobile is what used to be called PlayStation Suite, Sony's program to create a range of PlayStation-certified content available on devices that meet the PlayStation Certified requirements (right now, this means devices that run Android, and Vita). It's currently in open beta.More than 50 developers are creating content for PlayStation Mobile, with the SDK freely available to software houses under the
    PlayStation Mobile Developer Program

It's crazy that this app was created using PS Mobile. Yeah, homebrew is gonna be a very interesting aspect of Vita. It's great Sony made a proper avenue for it.

Agreed. This could mean big things for Vita since Sony has indeed made a proper avenue for it. Very impressive.

Wrong. Once Sony gets done with their "tests" about what this is, the avenue will be closed off. That's how Sony is with regards to homebrew on their systems.

Perhaps, but I wasn't referring necessarily just to this app, but rather PS Mobile and its ability to let the gamers make apps. I never really expected this to remain, but I mean, the dude isn't technically doing anything wrong. He's just streaming his steam account onto his Vita.

Let's hope it stays too... if so, then definitely thumbs up to Sony as well as the developers.

I invested in the Vita pretty much for that purpose. I've been eagerly waiting for the ability to stream a game like Skyrim to my Vita and play anywhere in my house..

Anyway to get this to work right now?

It hasn't been publicly released yet. Once it is, I'll get it posted and hosted unless someone does it before me.

Providing I'm not in the loop when this does happen, please PM me about it. I want this very badly.

Now this is something I can support that out right hacking though I can't.
"I think all those developers who are saying, "We don’t want to do a PS3 game," or "It’s really difficult to do it," should shut up and make their games. If you have time to complain about it, then you should be spending your time working on getting the most from the hardware."
