Gearbox wants Borderlands 2 on Vita, requests Sony's help

Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford is excited about the possibility of Borderlands 2 on Vita, a version able to share characters with the PS3 version. He's not excited enough to make Borderlands 2 for Vita, however.

Speaking at the Rezzed conference today, Pitchford asked fans to bug Sony to get behind it. "Perhaps some of you folks can convince Sony to start that," Pitchford said. "We're too busy to develop it ourselves. But I know there are a lot of talented developers who could take our code, our source and our content and perhaps create something like that."

Though Borderlands publisher 2K Games would seem like a more likely decision maker for a potential port, we could see Sony potentially being interested in putting such a popular game on its handheld, which could use some popular games.

Uh. Well I hope Sony get on board with this, but I get the feeling nothing will really come of this. Hope I'm wrong

Same here. But I would be very happy to be proven wrong.

Damn, here's hoping. Even if cross-compatible gameplay is out of the question, moving my character back and forth would still be hella sweet.

    I

It could be cross-compatible, if im not mistake Borderlands is made with the Unreal engine and the engine supports the Vita.

Basically Gearbox are saying we want to port the game to the Vita but their publishers doesn't give them the support, so try to push the fans to let Sony open the check book.

What can we do to promote this? I think THIS could be Vita's saving grace. I believe a game like Borderlands on the go could be Sony's Pokemon.

Start a petition would be the best bet. Then get someone to post it on neoGAF, there are many Vita fans there oit seems.

Hmmm, Facebook could be good, but there are people who might want BL on Vita but don't have FB. I kinda wanna get the ball rolling on this. We can sit here and hope something happens or we can at least do our part.
