So are these actual first specs or some ass pulled specs? Don't want to bother reading the whole thing if its the later

I'ma say exactly what the guy "Fred" on the source website said
Direct x is a microsoft product, no way is sony using it. This is a load of bunk.lol @ DX “11.5″
You could have written OpenGL 4.2 to make this more believable.
Nice try, though

Licensing is always possible just like MS will license Blu-ray which Sony is part of just like MS uses Vaio laptops in some of their commercials and And some 360's are seen in some Sony picture movies... This is not MS handing over Halo here.

I don't think these specs are real tbh. DirectX? The guy saying this is a "microsoft" thing is right, but not because it's owned by microsoft, but rather because it's a windows thing.
Anyway, it seems like some of the specs are random. 10x GPU performance? That would make is one of the most powerful GPU's around, not very cost effective. 10x PPU performance? That wouldn't really make the CPU any more powerful than what's already in the PS3, since each of the SPE's are producing more power than the PPU, and there's 7 of them active in there.
The rest of it is more believable I guess, but those numbers could have been any ones guess. But hey, maybe that's just the path sony took.Pedal

But why should we believe this is real?
As far as I know, there is no DirectX "11.5". The latest release is 11.1 for Windows 8 which the next-gen Xbox is likely to utilize since Microsoft recently secured the "Xbox 8" domain name. OpenGL 4.2 is also the latest version to be released so far. The guy mentioned it because it's more believable to use than something that doesn't yet exist.Last edited by Blacksite; 07-08-2012 at 03:38.

It could have been a ballpark figure too regarding the "DX11.5". The 'leak' in question could have simply been saying that the features would be "like DX11.5" in the sense that it is beyond DX11 in terms of capability. Alot of gamers aren't overly familiar with OpenGL, atleast vis a vis Direct X. OpenGL has kind of faded away from the PC scene in the past few years, outside of linux\OSX gaming.
But Direct X is kind of pointless when talking about consoles anyway. It doesn't apply. It only applies to PC's, really. You get down to the metal with console hardware, you don't have to mess around with abstraction layers.

I'm not what to make of this.
Either its a lazy fake, or a lazy Sony.
Either way it show no effort in design (grab the top producyt at themoment in graphics card, and recent CPU).
It doesnt really marry up with the ram though.
However it would be very easy to port/develop.
