I just dont think it would be this straight forward at all.
BTW Im saying I doubt this is legit, as I really dont think Sony are that lazy to just grab all these bits form AMD.
Shit next we will have "mainboard by Gigabyte".
Custom buss's, etc are what consoles are all about.
This doesnt really give us much insight into anything like that.
I mean yes thes specs could be real, but its not going to be "just
this.
And I'm still dubious about the RAM.

this is old news where have y'all been?
that's a early dev-kit by the way & chances are the CPU & GPU will be together on one chip APU or SOC & maybe like the Vita with the Memory stacked on the SOC, it will not be PC parts just placed inside a console.
& yes this is legit as of the end of 2011.Last edited by ONQ; 07-08-2012 at 12:29.

insiders say that's the same information that they received near the end of last year.
that's just to show what level of Direct X the GPU will be Sony will be using OpenGL, RSX was a Direct X 9 GPU that don't mean that Sony used Direct X on the PS3
also the specs are the same as the one's I posted a day before they posted this just using different details

Wow this all is looking extremely probable. People nag onto little things like "direct X" but everything else seems really feasible.
Now sony just needs to increase the RAM to 4gb

I saw the term 'UMA'
God I hope its fake. and as far as the DirectX thing who's to say an experimental 11.5 build isn't lurking under radar among other things. I'll have fun with my rumors rather than blatantly shoot 'em down as though they've suck 10 years off my life, lol
A machine that could do that would be a dream for meIts gotta be bullshit thou, that shit in a console?
it'll run Watch Dogs & Squares demo at the same time while trancoding a 1080p movie in the background, but its BS specs

In exclusive we have the detailed first specs (not final) for PS4, most likely first alpha kits sent to developers:
TLDR SPECS
CPU
- 4 core (2 core pairs) 3.2 GHz AMD x86 (Steamroller)
- aggregate, 10x PS3 PPU performance
- 512 KByte L2 per core pair
- 64 bit pointers
GPU
- AMD R10x series GPU @ 800 MHz (Tahiti)
- aggregate 10x RSX performance, 1.84 TFlops
- DX”11.5″
- cheap branching
- 18 compute units, focus on fine grained compute & tessellation
MEMORY:
- 2 GByte UMA, pushing for 4 GByte
- 192 GByte/ sec non-coherent access for e.g. GPU
- 12 GByte/ sec coherent access for CPU
- >50% longer memory latency for CPU/ GPU compared to PC!!!
- DXT is lowest bpp texture compression format
MEDIA:
- 50 GByte BD drive
- PCAV, between 3.3 and 8x BD, most likely clamped to 6x
- automatic background caching to HDD
- HDD SKU with at least 380 GByte
- downloadable games
EXTRA HARDWARE:
- video encoder/ decoder
- audio processing unit, ~200 concurrent MP3 streams
- HW zlib decompressor
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, i had to do the copy past, but whatever.
with such a build wouldn't they want 4GB of RAM with this setup? I mean at the very least I would assume so o.O
just looking at this seems more like an Xbox setup compared to a PS3 setup, but that's just me. I have a feeling this is a setup, these are probably the next Xbox specs lol I am feeling like we are being setup here.

Yes, and that is the problem -- ALL THE BULLSHIT, errr, wait TALK. This expanded fabrication is obviously from the earlier fabrications that were initially attributed to the next Xbox beginning in the fall last year. The "insider" was Charlie Dimerjian and it is a wonder why so many nitwit gamers actually believe this lying fool anymore. When the next Xbox reveal didn't happen as predicted, then the same knuckle-headed "specs" started being applied to the PS4 and it appears 99% of the gamers believing the specs were for the next Xbox had no trouble shifting their belief system that it was actually the specs for the PS4. Then, when there were too many logic holes, the usual bunch of idiots started filling in the logic holes. Come on, this electronic text that can be easily copied, pasted and edited to look like anything.

I think it's possible they might scale it down a little and still get similar results,
kinda like how pc has adjustable settings AA 1080p and whatnot. plus console gaming always leaves room for optimization so even if the card is not strong enough they might still be able to achieve what they're looking for.

So they recieved informaiton lats year that dev kit contianed (I assume this was what they contianed) a GPU that hadnt even been released to the public yet?
Tahiti hit the shelves when again?
While I'm all for advanced, this sounds like "Sony" (or the guy that made this up) just said "let grab the next GPU/CPU of the production line and call it a devkit."
"Steamroller" was first heard of as a name in Sep 11 BTW, rumoured, not even out.
While that isone way to go, it very friggin expensive one I guess. It also as you say, tells me this is nothing like the actual machinefinal specs, even if it is legit.
The biggest things that I'm interested in is the dedicated audio and decompession hardware, you know why, because those are things that actually scream bullshit to me.
No one with that much grunt is going to bother with a dedicated zlib decompressor and a dedicated audio chip it is way to restricitve.
Soo, end result is we have a GPU that does exsit (just) , coupled with a CPU that doesnt, isnt supposed to be released untill "sometime in 2013"?
Also what happened to the Fusion rumour, where it had an APU as well?
Mind you it still all matchs up with what this guy said...
Except of course for the stupid 32 bit thing. The X-Box 3 is going to have an 8-core 64-bit processor (assumedly an i7 or similar design) rated at 1.2 Teraflops. The PS4 will feature a 4-core 32-bit processor. XB3 will be using a GPU running support for DirectX 11, while the PS4 will be using an OpenGL 4 GPU. XB3 is specified to use 4 GB RAM, and the PS4 will be shipped with 2GB.
Salt=Taken
Amount=Pinch.

because the parts that will be in the PS4 are not out yet so they are using GPUs & CPUs with around the same target specs so devs can make games to these specs, Sony didn't have a SOC/APU with a GPU & CPU that's not out yet stuffed inside it to give to devs at the end of last year.

Isn't that very normal with early dev kits? They give developers machines that are 'roughly' what they're going for so that they can start to do preliminary work and adjustments on their games?
