I'm pretty sure if not I bet my life on it that Microsoft will have to adpot high capacity discs from somewhere.

It coudve used it may have extended the already long life of the Xbox360. I serious doubt Mircosoft wanted to pay sony any fee to use it in their console however

Hard to say - seeing as third party devs pandered and scaled-down games to the LCD console anyway.
As much as I love games, I could never spend the same amount of time in a place where I hate/look down on, and continue to post and participate.

I doubt it to, but some Country's simply do not have the bandwith to go completley digital.

why are people saying that MS doesnt want to pay Sony a royalty? If Blu ray is the way to go, they will pay it. Sony does pay MS royalties for some encoding that is used on their games.........its only out here that people think that these companies cannot coexist when one has something that allows them to achieve a certain goal

It appears the Microsoft did ok not including a blu ray drive. In fact, keeping the cost down has helped them drive sales by keeping costs down.

Someone mentioned multi-disc games and content cut to fit on a DVD. After searching a bit, I couldn't come up with more than a handful of multi-disc games.

As for cut content, it seems that it devs cut the content for both the 360 and PS3, so that doesn't appear to have hurt the 360 either.
I don't need no stinkin' signature!

Which I find both intriguing and annoying. Either include it for the game/system that can fit it, and maybe charge a tiny bit extra (fair enough too as there's more content/work involved); or force discs onto the other system.

Which is what they kinda do now, but didn't really before.
