When I try to upload a profile pic or avatar from my documents, it does not work. I also tried uploading from an internet site, but I couldn't find any that worked. Any ideas?

Make sure it's following the size limits. Here are the instructions:

For the profile pic, there isn't an option or necessity to click "custom avatar", with the avatar, you do need to click the proper options:

Yep. I did click Custom Avatar. The size might be the problem...
