Tales Remakes Will Bring The Franchise "Back To Its Roots"

The Tales role-playing series is one of the most beloved, enduring franchises around.

The fan base is extraordinarily loyal, so maybe it makes perfect sense to release more high-definition remakes. Series producer Hideo Baba has confirmed that indeed, more high-def overhauls are headed our way in the future.

Giving the fans a chance to revisit the Tales roots, the remakes will not only improve graphics, but they'll also offer a host of various improvements. Said Baba:

"We are planning to re-release old games to other platforms in the future, because the old games have some origin and offer standard features of the Tales series. We want to give some opportunities to current fans to play the old titles."

The interesting part is that he said they will make the graphics "more accessible,"
which obviously implies that the visuals will require a heavy tweak in order to be appealing to modern gamers. Well, it's probably true. Anyway, don't forget that Tales of Xillia is coming to North America as well, so this is all good news for JRPG followers.

I hope they mean SNES/PS1 era since none of those made it out of Japan IIRC.

^Would be nice to play some of the older Tales games from those eras. I bought Tales of Destiny for PS One a while back because I love the series so much and I wanted to see how some of the older games played, and that's a PS1 title. I for sure wouldn't mind seeing them do remakes of the SNES games though, in fact I'd be all for it.

Currently playing? Skyrim (360). White Knight Chronicles (PS3). Majoras Mask (Wii). Final Fanasy VII (PS2). Just completed? Final Fantasy VI.

You're right there. If they reboot the much older 15-20 year old games I think that would be a smart move. Not only to finally get those worlds/stories/characters to the western market, but also because traditional RPGs are pretty uncommon these days so it would be good to see them have a comeback of sorts

That be a great idea maybe bundle some together as a collection and it'll sell well.

First the Tales of Xillia localization news and not this. The good news keeps rolling in. Awesome. Seems like Bamco may actually be trying to repair the schism between itself and the gamers...
