http://www.computerandvideogames.com...cle&id=286396#The smart money is on Sony announcing a new PS3 model in the near future, and you wouldn't get bad odds betting on next month's Gamescom being the venue for a hardware reveal.
Earlier this month it emerged that Sony Computer Entertainment had submitted what appears to be plans for a new PS3 model to the Federal Communications Commission, an independent US government agency which regulates communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable.
Using images attached to Sony's filing, NeoGAF users have been speculating what a PS3 Super Slim might look like. Take a look:

Haha WTF...How can this thing not overheat??? It will melt when you put TLOU of Beyond in it. I'd be very suprised if the next SKU resembled this mockup.

And I will get a free delivery of it to my home? Because I have a working slim, not sure why I need ANOTHER one?

Really hope it doesn't look like that. Not a fan of the pop up tray.

Don't really like the pop up tray, looks like I'll be sticking with my slim.

Looks like a step backwards design wise. The internal heat would melt that thing.

Beautiful! The slimmer the better. The PS2 slimline still to this day is a technical marvel to me, lol

I'd happily take that, the thinner the better and the lid doesn't really bother me. My slims psu has died and it lasts sometimes for a few hours to just a few minutes so i may wait for this to be released, if it ever is.

Will await till GamesCom for full reveal. Not liking the pop up lid though.

Well, I will be interested to see a real reveal. Would be cool to see how much smaller it really is compared to the fat model, or current slim. Wouldn't be shocked if it did use external power supply to combat the amount of heat.

Of course it's neccessary. With a redesign they could save quite a bit in manufacturing costs and target a wider market by dropping the price of the console. Plus it can create a buzz/hype if it looks awesome like the PS2 slim did. With the huge incentive of becoming a PS+ member (especially since e3), the introduction of the "essentials collection" (probably £10 a game) and just how far we are into this generation - all signs point to a price drop/slimmer slim
