Rockstar may have brightened up this afternoon with two new Grand Theft Auto 5 screens, but don't expect to be seeing a new trailer any time soon.

As part of a newly published Q&A on its official site, the studio explained the lack of news about the game and the asset blackout that has followed GTA 5's reveal trailer last November.

"We are very busy working on the game! Everything is going well, but the game is a huge project. We should have more information and some new assets for you soon.

"As we have said before, we have often had long gaps between asset releases on previous games and will continue to do so in the future. We are sorry if you find this frustrating, but please understand, we don't do this because we 'don't care about our fans' 'don't respect our fans' 'hate GTA fans etc' - precisely the opposite! We do it because we want to make sure we only release 100% correct information, and because we want to keep plenty back for the actual game release so there are still lots of surprises when you play it.

"The only things we care about are that you enjoy the experience of actually playing the game and that we release accurate information. We just have not been in a position to show more of the game than the trailer and will not be for a while yet.

"We will try and get some more screens for you soon and then another trailer when we are ready."

Im excited from time to time i still play gta4. Based on my research its looking like this game may not come out until the 1st quater of 2013 tho.

This could effect if i get it for PS3 or Wii U...

Anybody else think the GTA IV to GTA V jump is going to be on the scale of GTA: VC to GTA:SA?

But those screens... Surely they have to be PC or NextBox? They look so much better than IV.

You’ll have seen the two new screenshots of GTA V, and whilst one of them showed a helicopter, it’s in the text of Rockstar’s Newswire article that planes have been all but confirmed.

“The city was simply too small for effective and enjoyable flying,” says the publisher when asked why planes weren’t in GTA IV.

“It was the first time we made a high definition open world, and it was a massive amount of work to make something on that scale – we simply could not make an environment big enough for planes to work properly.”

“Fear not, they are returning in what is our biggest open world game to date.”

That ‘biggest open world game’ has to be GTA V.

They also comment on all the fakes and rumours. ”All the way up until game launch (and probably beyond) there is going to be no shortage of non-stop hoaxes, faked footage and screens, rampant rumors and speculation,” said Rockstar.

“As a rule, we are not going to get into the game of confirming or denying each of these as they happen as there is simply too much of it. Half of them we don’t even understand.”

“One thing we’ll say definitively though is – there is absolutely no ‘beta’ test for the game. If you see ads or solicitations to join a beta program, beware as this could be a dodgy online phishing scam.”

If has to be PC shots for sure! isnt this GTA based on San andreas? So it would be a bigger city than in GTa 4.

Its about twice the size, if not a bit more than that

Look its only two pcs. It does not give much away and this is what R* wants a reaction. But it has failed, since its only a few things to pick out

Rockstar is sort of like the Christopher Nolan of gaming. They tease you with something little to piss you off and wanting for more, but not enough to spoil you. And then when the trailers come, you're hype level skyrockets.

Yeah I think so. GTA IV looked good, but Red Dead remains one of the best looking games this generation so I'd imagine GTA V will look very, very good.

MAY 2013??? I was gathering possibly March 2013 as a release date!

RDR was May 18th 2010
LA Noire was May 17th 2011
I am seeing a pattern here just like the old October release dates with the older GTA's

GTA: SA October 26, 2004
GTA: VC October 22, 2002
GTA: III October 2001

I think they will follow their current MO of May releases, works well for them, past the new super March season and before the Summer lull.

Look guys i can applie logic to this. Every since the hype for GTA 3. All this has been is an excellent PR move from rockstar to release a trailer and then a few images and disappear for months on end and what you believe to be truth. All the fake info is released and fake trailers, images and e-mails

We the smart fans and smart gamers, can prove that the devil is in the detail and the facts are official when they come from the horses mouth. Be that rockstar or any gaming creators
