"What is extremely telling and critical in deciding what the recommendation should be is the janitors," Freeh said. "These are the employees of Penn State who clean and maintain the locker rooms in the Lach building where rapes are occurring. One was a Korean war vet and he said, 'I've never seen anything like that. It makes me sick.' … What did they do? They said they can't report this because they'd be fired."

"It was like going against the President of the United States," Freeh said. "If that's the culture on the bottom, God help the culture on the top."

Joe Paterno KNEW what Sandusky was doing and did NOTHING. I know he was good for Penn State football and college football period. I don't know what to say.

Isn't it a little late to be discussing this? Anyway, Paterno was in the wrong and I'm glad Sandusky is wasting away in prison.

I have seen movies of the football culture that allow players leeway and get them off drink drive charges etc but It hought it was just that. Movies.

well... the academic rep of the university shouldn't be tarnished... still spitting out educated job qualified grads...

Any college can do that however this is national news and while yes penn state is a great academic school the fact this whole thing played out tarnishes parents view on sending there kids there also donators to the school. Its a perception more than anything.

The saddest part about this is Joe Paterno's rep was tarnished by this whole incident. RIP

It's disgusting to let something like this go on for the sake of winning football games.

It'll be one thing to call him an idiot if he never knew this was going on; but knowing and LETTING it happen is just fucked. Heck, he didn't even fire the guy and keep quiet about it - he kept him on.

I hope they never win another game ever, and they are given a billion death penalties under the NCAA.

The institution should be accountable too.

I have to disagree, the saddest part about this is the little boys that have to live with this for the rest of their lives.... that's the saddest part. I couldn't care less about Jo Pa's rep compared to what those kids have to live with.... it's just disgusting and amazing to think Jo Pa facilitated it.

It was small children that Sandusky was abusing. He had a program that he helped troubled kids that were like 10-12 years old and he abused them while they were at the program.

you can find the whole legal thingy telling what sandusky was doing in detail, it's pretty fucking sick. a bit burned out on this story to be honest. just throw sandusky in the volcano, and fire everyone else who knew, then dig up paterno and dump him somewhere, be done with it already
