All I can say in regards to that is... back in the day... the majority of the Staff were originally part of the forums before actively working on the main page... this included writers, editors, graphic designers, SMC, etc. So in regards to Staff participation... everyone was like a big family. Even the owners were very actively participating within the forums so everyone felt like they were a part of the site. It didn't really feel at all like there were "Staff". The law, of course, was laid down when need be... although most of the time it was simple warnings... but people never felt threatened by the authority of the staff... and everyone was ridiculously friendly with each other. I'll admit I've been a wee bit douchey since coming back here... but I was never like that before. I guess I still hold bitterness against the previous owners... though that isn't an excuse to pass off annoyances onto fellow members.
I don't know... you guys just need to find a way to blur the line again between the community and the main site... and make everyone feel like they are a part of it. How you might go about that, I do not know. Awards for participation are nice, but they shouldn't be necessary for getting people involved. It shouldn't have to come to that. One thing that stands out to me in regards to the forums is the feel of the forums is "icky". It's not simply a theme that needs to be changed or made available as an alternative... the way everything loads... the way the quoting system works... it all just feels horrid... and incomplete. What version of vBulletin is this site using? I'm aware that vBulletin costs money, but staying up to date with the latest version would help immensely. The latest stable version is 4.2.0 I believe... and that came out 7 months ago. Version 5 beta is in the works. Loading times are also friggin' horrible half the time, which is also a concern... but I'm aware the cost of bandwidth for a site like this is absurdly high.

All this bullshit you guys are telling just to defend the forum is absurd. The navigation of the forum is an awful experience which is pretty much perfect in every other forum I have visited. Constant errors, crashes, freezes, double post bugs, stuck on edit loading etc. So dont fucking tell me to calm down and grab a beer cause thats bullshit. The only thing that is really good here is the community, the rest is crap.

People complaining about complaining. If we the members want to complain we will and nobody will stop us. Anyone who is "staff" please don't think you are better than us, all you guys do is delete posts and spambots. You are still members of this forum like the rest of us. What you "staff" can do is harass Cuguy so he can harass the owner, after all it's his job to do that.

I started some things around here based on an intuitive feeling I had. Your recollection of the past put that intuition into words. I have created a 2013 strategy thread in the content team forum, (with your posts as reference) and will be doing everything I can personally to help bring about a return to what you laid forth cause it sounds fucking awesome and I want that again for PSU.

D-one, mate just freaking relax... I posted my side and yes they are not the whole solution to the problems and i feel my posts are what they are and i will stick to them
you have your say and stick by them... Remember we do not have to agree and that's fine by me... But to belittle me on the forum is out of the question
So take a chill bill

Can we see new posts with a single click? Yes
Can we reply to threads? Yes
Congrats! You have successfully used the forum.
Those are really the only 2 things that matter in a forum. Post and reply. Anything else is just extra stuff that does not change what I do here on the forum. Forums are about members interacting with each other. Helping with issues or just discussing games. As long as we can still do that, well then there really isn't much to complain about.
I would enjoy a few changes to the forum. Will I keep active without those changes? Yes. Why you ask? Because of the members, not the little features of the forum.Last edited by Lethal_NFS; 12-30-2012 at 16:55.

If it's taking 10-12 minutes for a page to load then you're probably posting at the same time the servers are being backed up/refreshed. Either that or we've experienced a huge traffic spike.

I hear you all. Some of you may or may not have seen me on the forums. I've been posting here infrequently since 2008. I started off as a casual writer for PSU while I was writing for other sites but always wanted to work just for PSU. Since 2008, I've lurked more than posted as I have done in many gaming forums.
In 2012, I'm now work for PSU full-time as the UK Publisher, which essentially means I'm on the editorial team and help with marketing and sales. I recognise I really should be posting more and, like many of you have said, should become a bigger part of the community. That is one my new year resolutions so you'll personally see me a lot more on the forums. I'm a gamer and was part of the gaming community long before I was writing for websites.
Anyhow, just thought I'd chip in. You'll see me a lot more now, but hopefully won't even recognise that I am staff as I'll merge in with the rest of you. After all, I'm just a hardcore gamer like most of you, who just happens to enjoy writing.

Sounds good!
Guys, why don't we chill out and drop this for now. Go play some games! We are at the door step of 2013 and next year will bring fresh changes and growth.
There's no point going over the same old thing. Some people have many issues (cyber) some have none (me, Lethal, others), some are for everyone (forum tree). This is all known, so hang tight and relax.

Someone put this thread to my attention so I'll share what I have said time and time again in the past.
The forums are realistically experiencing technical issues. Not everyone is affected but using the mentality of "Hey, if It works fine for me then it's working fine for everyone else!" - That's bullshit and you guys should really listen to what they have to say. We can reply and create posts but sometimes we have to go through obstacle to do so, heck we're even cautious enough to copy our posts with anticipation that it could be lost due to the issues this place is experiencing.
Cybertox describes the situation in detail and it's exactly what many are having issues with(I felt your pain my friend). Idealistically, like many message boards, we want this place to work as fluidly and quickly as possible. Impairing our ability to venture this place is frustrating hence why we complaint a lot, not just for the sake of complaining but because we care about this community.
I'm not placing the blame on staff members because I know full well that they don't have the ability to fix forums issues other then ban spam bots; keep order among members and enrich activity for all. Hopefully something is done to get things in gear from the site owners but at this point, it's wishful thinking until something major happens.
PS. I came back to post this for the above reason and because I noticed some tension going on here. Now with my job finally out of the holiday season headache I might come here more regularly. Plus I promised Ghost-Rhayne that I would assist him with the Review forum(Holy crap it's packed already!).

Mr Fon, hello! Great to see you again. Yes, the Community Review section needs you! That place is still in its infancy and its true form has yet to be revealed.
