I posted a link to a metrocast promotional deal in a thread and got a warning or told about advertising. Here is my question.14. No Advertising Other Sites - This will be dealt with strictly. Posting links to a website with the aim of increasing its traffic is an infractable offense. Linking to personal websites that will make monetary gains from the clicks are also banned.
So, if say a member finds a good deal on video games or a video game system. That member posts a link to gamestop or a gaming company running a promotional deal. Or it could be someone finds a good deal on video games on amazon and ebay and posts a link.
Can someone tell me what is the difference between that scenario and what I did? I'm just confused.
I'm not arguing against it.

Can someone explain the advertising rule to me?
Well, you were advertising a service. That's not really the same thing as posting a deal for a video game on Amazon, eBay or Steam. Thanks to Kwes for the signature!

Good to know gotta be careful
Meh, a bad decision on giving a warning for that lol.
We also have a thread dedicated to deals.
Thank you itachi
That means driving traffic to other sites as competition. If it literally means giving others links to other sites to visit, then we can't post links to damn near anything else.
