Looks like starting October 10th Marvel will have film rights back for Daredevil

    'Daredevil' falling back to Marvel
No extension for Fox; Carnahan's take 'up in smoke'
    By Rachel Abrams, Variety Staff

With its extension request rejected, 20th Century Fox will have no choice but to allow the rights to "Daredevil" to go back to Marvel, marking the second major character to revert back to the superhero shingle since Disney bought it in 2009.

Under the current terms of the agreement, Fox has to put the pic into production by Oct. 10. But late Monday night, Joe Carnahan, Fox's pick to direct the film, indicated that the actioner wasn't happening at the studio.

"Think my idea for a certain retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero went up in smoke today kids," Carnahan tweeted, followed by "We shall see. Time is NOT on anyone's side."

Marvel will regain control of the character sometime after the October deadline passes, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

The Punisher, which had been at Lionsgate, marked the first character to revert to Marvel since its 2009 sale to Disney. The Mouse House cannot exploit characters including Spider-Man, Venom, Ghost Rider, the X-Men, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, the Silver Surfer, Elektra and Deadpool because the those characters were already licensed to other studios. Rights-holders that can prove films are in active development retain those rights in perpetuity.

Marvel began fully financing its own slate of projects in 2005, beginning with "The Incredible Hulk" and "Iron Man." Before that, Marvel licensed its characters out to other studios, with vampire hunter Blade the first to get the bigscreen treatment by New Line in 1998.

Marvel licensed Spider-Man to Sony in 1999, while Thor had once been set up at Sony before Paramount picked up the rights in 2006.

That makes 3 returns to Marvel
    Punisher
    Blade
    Daredevil

I say get Ghost Rider back and make a rated R alternative cinematic universe that is dark and gritty starring these 4 and anyone else they can think of.

Could not agree more with you more dude. It would be so awesome to see Blade meet Ghost Rider. As long as Blade keeps Wesley Snipes and is not rebooted.

The Dredd production team put out a featurette on the Internet that contains some new footage and some interesting comments from star Karl Urban and the Judge Dredd creator John Wagner. Wagner got a sneak peek at the entire film and had this to say:
“I went up to London yesterday to see the completed Dredd film. I’ve had reservations about certain aspects of it, and made them plain to the team at DNA. All but one of them – a little quibble at the beginning – have been addressed. And what a lot they’ve added. Music is on the button. SFX are excellent. Filming is impressive. I’ve not seen a modern 3-D movie before but I like it. I found myself reaching out trying to touch things that were dancing before my eyes. Karl is a great Dredd and Olivia gets Anderson completely. This is Dredd as it should be done – true to character, visceral, unrelentingly violent (but not off-puttingly so). It will open, I believe, sometime in September. No doubt you’ll let me know what you think when you’ve seen it, but this has my recommendation.”

After watching the video this NerdBastard thinks they may have actually paid attention to the Judge Dredd characters, world, and the violent tone of the comics. I’ll be in a theater seat in September, how about you?
Dredd, directed by Pete Travis opens in 3D and 2D theaters on September 21. Alex Garland (28 Days Later) wrote the script, which stars Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey.

Color me a little more excited. Still not digging the voice though.

Progress moves forward on the Guardians of the Galaxy movie penciled in for a 2014 release date. Reports are now coming in that Marvel is close to securing a director for the project in the form of James Gunn.

Fans will surely be familiar with Gunn’s work, he co-wrote Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake and directed the cult-favorite genre satires Slither and Super. But if he were to sign on as director of Guardians, it would be his biggest, most-mainstream film yet. Gunn would be the latest in a line of unusual director choices, the most recent of which was the selection of Anthony and Joe Russo for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Heat Vision broke the story saying that Marvel was attracted to Gunn’s ability to mix comedy with action and horror. I might also suggest they were attracted to Gunn’s experience directing his own scripts, perhaps witnessing the benefit after Joss Whedon did the same on The Avengers. The Guardians script is currently being rewritten by Nicole Perlman, from a previous draft by Chris McCoy. Both are first time filmmakers whose worked may be edited or expanded upon by a screenwriter with experience like Gunn.

Guardians of the Galaxy will follow a “U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.” Guardians will be out in theaters on August 1, 2014.

Deadpool has teamed up with Punisher and Ghost Rider before, I'd love if he was a cameo in both of them to tie in his own movie

The name Joss Whedon has resonated among geek culture for some time and this icon has recently made a world-wide name for himself by directing the massively popular (and profitable) Avengers movie. As most know by now, he’s signed up to direct the sequel. Apparently, he’s also signed on to do a lot more with Marvel Studios. While doing his rounds to promote Avengers in Japan (where it only recently released) some Japanese online news-types managed to pin him down and get an interview.
The translation is a $#@! (my translator only turns out a mish-mosh of vaguely intelligible sentences), so we’re relying on our pals over at screenrant (thanks guys!) who managed to pull some of the juicy bits out.
Here are the general highlights of what Whedon had to say about the future of Avengers and other Marvel projects:

    1) While he wants to do something more personal for the Avengers sequel and is looking to spend more time exploring the characters, he’s still upping the number of team members (one addition that he says he’s already decided on) and is planning on keeping the story just as epic as the first.

    2) Avengers 2 will be stand-alone in the way he plans on putting it together, so even those that don’t keep up with all the ‘part 2s’ of the coming years won’t be lost walking into it.

    3) He’s going to be heavily involved in putting together all of the next run of sequels for Marvel Studios, using his powerful geek-brain to act as a consultant.

    4) Marvel Studios plans on using the Avengers brand name to help promote Whedon’s upcoming Marvel TV series (which remains a mystery thus far).
So there you have it folks – Whedon is shackled to Marvel Studios for many years to come and seems rather eager about the whole situation. Hopefully, his touch will be evident in upcoming productions and we can expect a good deal of continuity along with some more kick-ass super hero flicks.

There's a rumor that the new character might be Vision and played by Vin Diesel.

Cool stuff man, hope you had a good time. Those life size lego versions of Hulk & Batman must have taken some time to put together...

A Few New Pics From Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’

08-30-12 • Film Posted by Team Bastard

So the usual way that Comic-Con works for those of us who didn’t attend is that everything shown there eventually makes its way to the lawless badlands of the internet and then these projects tend to — in a snap — be everywhere and the next time you turn around everything is The Avengers and you’ve got 17 behind the scenes featurettes up your ass. Guillermo Del Toro‘s Pacific Rim is anything but usual.

Our Dev Richards was in Hall H to see the Pacific Rim teaser footage that has still not been seen by the masses and she told us back then that: “The trailer re-defines the term epic. Massive robots fighting massive monsters in a futuristic society. Hardwick asks del Toro how he did that, “That’s just the tip” he says.” Del Toro went on to promise rocket launchers, sea monsters, robot weapon porn, and also said that there would be “No $#@!ing motion capture” and ”you treat the resources with respect. You don’t use CGI to save work, you use it as a tool to make it better.”

Del Toro also told the SDCC crowd that there would be no additional PR done for the film until the end of the year, but Empire Magazine’s “Winter and Beyond” issue got a look at some pics and clearly, this film is going to flat out rock. Take a look at the pics below and let us know what you think below.
Holy $#@!, I am excited for this now!

    http://nerdbastards.com/2012/08/30/a...s-pacific-rim/

All the action and set pieces will be props and not CGI, this is gonna be BIG!

So, Jamie Foxx is apparently top choice to play Electro in the next Amazing Spider-Man film.

After news broke earlier this month about Jamie Foxx potentially playing Electro in Marc Webb's 2014 sequel to this year's The Amazing Spider-Man, ComingSoon.net spoke with Webb and confirmed that Foxx is his top choice. Today, Access Hollywood spoke with the actor and learned that, while he's anticipating getting a shot at the role, the deal is still not quite locked.

“Fingers crossed it all works out,” Foxx says. "...I have a little daughter, four years old, and what’s crazy is like, this past year she had a birthday where Spider-Man was the theme... I haven’t sprung it on her yet, but she will go crazy!"

The character of Electro has never definitively appeared on the big screen, though some fan speculation has suggested that the mysterious figure (played by Michael Massee) featured in The Amazing Spider-Man's end credits was, in fact, our first look at the character. First appearing in 1964's "The Amazing Spider-Man" #9, Electro's real name is Max Dillon and he has the power to control electricity.

Also still being cast is the role of Harry Osborn, although some potential talent was named yesterday. Whoever ends up signing on will join Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Shailene Woodley are attached to star in the May 2, 2014 release. This time around, the script arrives from Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt.

"When I was 12, I milked my eel into a pot of turtle stew. I flogged the one-eyed snake, I skinned my sausage. I made the bald man cry into the turtle stew, which I believe my sister ate. At least I hope she did."
