how do you use bitorrent?

isohunt.com or such.. Bittorrent ISN'T for videos or anything, you download stuff with it, almost like a P2P piece of software (Kazaa, iMesh).

I have a torrent ( ABC) I dled it last night, and I ahve the video torrent dl'd too

It doesnt download as a torrent. You download the BitTorrent file (generally with the .torrent extension) This then tells your Torrent program (ABC in your case) what to download and from where. Before you start downloading it should have asked you where you want to download it to on your computer. When its downloaded the file should be in this directory. If you downloaded a video then it could be .wmv, .avi etc.

Double click on the .torrent file. Then ABC should pop up telling you it's gonna download. Self explanatory from there.

It'll start off slow but it'll speed up real fast.

www.bitcomet.com great bittorrent client. then use www.torrentspy.com what a torrent does is it opens up into bitcomet which is a download manager of some sort. the thing that doesn't make it illegal is that its not direct file sharing and or p2p. what you do is download a torrent, open it in bitcomet. it then extracts what you got from the torrent to a specified folder. i use bitcomet alot for some things that are better left unsaid.

Sometimes the download will not star beacuase there are not seeds. The seeds are the people who share the stuff.

i didnt forward my ports and my downloads work fine.

yes i did. xD you don't need your ports forwarded. only if your having something outgoing like say your gonna host a counter-strike or a mmorpg server.

Imo Azureous is the best by far, you can really manage your downloads as you want to, adjust upload/download speeds and all you could want.

+It's completely free and works for most OS's.

nah man, bitcomet. it doesn't run on java its a much better one trust me. i tried azureus and thought it was good till i tried bit comet.

How fast does your downloads get??

Mine crusies at around 1-4 kbps

and the highest it gone up to is 16 kbps

LMFAO!!!!! thats terrible! i downloaded V for Vendetta, Silent Hill, Final Destination 3 within 1h 30min highest my download speeed has gotten is at least 243kbps dn upload is around 100 some. Supaman it depends on how many seeders there are. For those movies i got over 800 ppl were seeding and uploading creating a fast download for me. Same with quake4 only took me about 5 hours to get it since over 1000 ppl had it.

Azureus is the best, most configurable bittorrent client! No contest!

I usually get speeds of 240-320 kbps on my 256kbps connection.

Downloading even larger files takes a tick!

If you have downloaded it, installed it and you can't use a torrent its probably

a)you haven't configured port forwarding on your router to allow it too connect

b)you have a bad torrent with 0 seeders/0 leechers.

oh yea and definetly uninstall bitorrent. Bitcomet is what i use and it works a million times better... i haven't tried the one sanity mentioned tho
