From what I have been reading, DUST 514 in beta form at least, has been a let down. I want that game so bad though, so hopefully it gets better by release.

Yeah everybody I've talked to (who is in the beta) as well as what I've been reading has said that they were disappointed in every way from gameplay to graphics. And the gameplay vids I've seen look pretty underwhelming as well. But like you said hopefully the final release will be better.

I haven't just seen a vid or two on it, I've read a $#@! load, and watched all of the EVE fanfest/various other interview etc videos and what I've learned has blown me the $#@! away lol. It's going to be REALLY big in scope, and deep as hell.

You're right, I've never said I was an MP type of guy but this game is more than your typical MP FPS. It's kind of like an RPG + FPS...and there will be no DUST 2, it will just be 517 getting bigger and bigger and the most appealing aspect is that in 1, 3, 5 years time, I wont have restarted a new soldier like every other FPS, I will have my same guy, super $#@!ing badass to the bone lol. This game has me more excited than anything else, Bioshock, TLOU, Beyond, GoW etc included.

There is no final release haha . It will get continual graphical and gameplay updates. CCP have the "game as a service" mentality here. It's not just a normal retail game that goes gold and then that's it, DUST will be a living game that only ever gets bigger and better, for free. This game won't appeal to people who don't have patience or don't care to see the big picture of what CCP are doing. It's the big picture that has me excited, not what I'm laying in the beta. To be honest the beta is kind of lacking, the controls are not at all up to scratch and the graphics are not BF3 styles (lol), but as the months and years go by, it will just get better and better. I'm jumping in day 1 (well im there already), I wanna grow with the game and by the time everyone sees how badass it's become, I'll be a multi skilled battlefield ass kicker.

Ahhh Ok, got ya. Well, to be honest, I think A LOT of people will jump on then, think it's $#@! and never play again lol. I don't think the game will be polished enough by then to capture the attention of many. This game will be a slow burner. It's a big, unique undertaking, and it'll take time.

Yeah since its a free download I'll still try it out. Theres a saying that great things sometimes comes from small beginnings so maybe DUST will be one of those hopefully. So I'll keep an open mind and try it out. If I dont like it at least it didnt cost me anything to find out. lol

lol That's right. You have nothing to lose. You can always try again after some expansions, or when it hits PS4. It's just my lust for skill and power/development that will get me in there day 1. The customisation depth is insane which is another addiction factor for me...So many ways to develop your soldier o.O

If youre new and you get matched up against all these leveled up players doesnt that upset the balance and maybe turn off newcomers?

It depends how you choose to play the game. There ill be two main ways of playing DUST: as an MMO where you are fighting battles for EVE players or where you are fighting battles for NPC corporations which is basically your typical FPS multi player experience. The NPC battles will have various ways of grouping gamers so that they are equally matched, for example, DS3, Move and K/M players will generally not be mixed (as far as I understand). There has also been mention of other methods, like people in the same ping range for example. I imagine K/D ratio might also be one of the factors.

If you choose to play the MMO side of EVE, you'll need be train and have good gear, there won't be any hand holding or segregation there. This side of the game will require A LOT more strategy and is better suited to clans (PSU is thinking of setting up a corporation). You can't just jump in a tank or a drop ship and be good in DUST, like you can in BF3 for example. You need to train up the skills to pilot these things, so it will be important for MMO corps to have people who specialise in tanks, drop ships and turrets as well as various batlefield roles.

How come gears 1 gets higher review score but lower user score and wins?.
Then heavy rain gets higher review score with a lower user score and loses?. Hmm fanboy much?.

How about the fact that uncharted 2 gets higher metacritic then all your big titles?. Still UC2 beats GOW2. U3 beats GOW3.

If you really want to base whats best on metacritic? the LBP1 rates higher the all halo games and gears games.

I think your post is somewhat biased.

    Lets cut to. he chase.
If your friends are mostly on 360? You go with 360.
If you want games and more variety? you go with a ps3.

Now 360 user will add games that are on pc. But how does that make 360 a relevant system if I can play many of its games "exclusive" games on another platform?.
Fable, left 4 dead, The witcher 2, Alan wake 1&2, Gears 1 etc.
Now someone even added mass effect 1. Well no as it's now on ps3 aswell.

So when you think about it. If it's games you buy a console for? You go with a ps3.
All ps3 exclusive are ONLY on ps3 or within the Playstation brand.
Many 360 gamers who claim pc ports as exclusives because a pc runs a Microsoft OS is just clutching at straws. The pc isn't xbox branded therefore it's a separate platform. This is why DC universe online is pc and ps3.

Ok what about the service from xbl compared to psn/ps+?.

Well again it depends what you want for your money?.
You want to pay to chay to your friends? Xbl.
You want value and content you go for psn/ps+.

Right so on xbl gold (whicj you pay for) you get:
    Web browser now (after 7years).
    Video chat.
    Party chat.
    Kinect chat.
    Cross game chat.
    Social networking.
    Online gaming.
I think 512mb of cloud storage?.
Access to media streaming services (even if you are already pay for that service).
Some free content but mostly percentage off content.

    Non gold membership (silver):
    Browse the market
Can't do any othe the above. Yes that means even if your paying £6 a month for Netflix you can't access it on silver membership. You must have gold.
If you buy your hard copy version of a game via retail or digital that has online functionality? you can not fully use your game that you have paid full price for. In order to get full functionality of your game? you must pay an additional fee to Microsoft.
If you buy any Dlc that has any online function (map packs in cod etc) you cannot use them unless you pay an additional fee to Microsoft.

Psn offers all of the above apart from cloud storage.
So if you pay for Netflix? That's all you pay.
All games and dlc has full functionality at only the original price you bought it for.
    Cross game chat.
Access to home. It's like a virtual sims type social networking. You can share music, photos and movies via your virtual home. So watch a movie stored on ps3 with your friends in home. Play tons of games with friends.
You also get free DLC from time to time.

    Ps+ (optional service) offers:
    Try before you buy.
    Free dlc, avatars and themes.
    Automatic system updates.
    Automatic game updates/patches etc.
Automatic related content downloads to what it thinks you may be interested in. This can be turned off.
    2gb cloud storage.
    Instant game collection.
Just like to add that from having ps+ I downloaded:
LBP2, infamous 2, motor storm apocalypse, darksiders, war hammer, virtual fighter 5, deus ex human revolution, saints row 2, Red dead redemption, dead space 2, resident evil 5, house of the dead 4, shank 2, resident evil 123, borderlands, bullet storm, just cause 2, ratchet and clank all for one, Crysis2, vanquish, batman arkham city, vita games uncharted, gravity rush, attack of the killer blobs.
Jan ps+ users get bioshock 2, mortal kombat vita.

These are what I downloaded. There is more.

So what it boils down to is what you want?
Having to pay for what everyone gets for free or get everything xbl users get for free plus if you want the sub you get stuff back.

So I just thought I'd make it clear to people what you get for your money.

I think Stuff like Alan Wake counts because I'm not a PC gamer and probably will never be a big one. (I am intrested in the kickstarter stuff)

Also we all know that PS+ in its current form is better than xbl gold. I do think that microsoft has more services that. Make xbox live more appealing than PSN though.

I mean paying for xbox live gives me access to. UFC , EPSN, Vimeo, HBO GO, Live events (E3,National conventions, debates, VGAs)

My xbox video and xbox music libary intergrates with my xbox as well.

But we don't know what next gen will bring so I wouldn't just agree that microsoft will standstill.

If I can play a game thats on 360 on another platform it is not an exclusive. No matter which way you look at it.
Psn has some of the services you are on about just depends on which country you are in. Fact is you have to pay just to be able to access them.
Xbl is a con. Everything I have mentioned proves that. You say it's more integrated, to me and my experience, this just makes it more unorganised. Plus for a paid service, you should have the option to have ads pop up.
A good example that Microsoft are cheeky.
If in UK 4od is a free streaming service. On xbl you have to have gold.
Left4dead 2 latest dlc on pc is free but xbl gamers have to pay for the exact same content.

Also, just because you don't play on pc don't make the games more exclusive lol. I don't game on pc but dc universe isn't an exclusive.

The PC is not in this equation. Compared to the Xbox 360, DC Universe is an exclusive.

This is not PC vs PS3 vs 360. And the PC is not a home console. It is a computer and it is not in the same category. The PC can be upgraded so I do not understand why people insist on using it for comparisons..

Ahhh the ole exclusive definition discussion.

The definition has taken on many different forms to suit many different arguments over the years. A complex and curious matter, of which the PSU community has not yet been able to decipher...What is all this crazy $#@!?

Pure saiyan blood exclusive! - only available from ONE source!
Console exclusive - only available on ONE console, also available on PC

But then, is PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale a console exclusive, cause it's available on Vita. So what is that then? A Brand Exclusive? lol

You can cut this piece of $#@! up in any number of ways depending on your argumentative agenda. The whole point of "exclusive" means one source though, so while PC isn't a console, it's a source, and if you can get a game on 2 sources, then it's not an exclusive...and so the brain fart continues.

The PS Vita is not a home console. It is a portable gaming device. If we are going to start naming off sources, then I guess the cell phones should be added as well.

If the discussion is about home consoles, then games that are on one console, and not the other, those are considered exclusives. Because this is PS3 vs 360 after all. And nothing else matters outside of these 2 consoles.

Since PC games run on windows you could argue that PC is MS other platform if we really want to get semantical here.

MS and Sony are both moving into multiple device ecosystems. Exclusive IPs will be multiplatform within the publishers brand ecosystem haha. This is already happening with PS3 and Vita. I imagine this trend will continue on into next gen albeit further advanced, and of course MS will have their 720/Win 8 integration on devices like Surface and other smart devices (that have a control solution).
