For me, it is, which is what I said.
Also I buy games for me not for my friends, most of my friends play different platforms, I don't care, I play what I want and that's mostly Single Player games anyway, so buying a platform based solely on what other people play, to me, is silly. Now if all I ever played was COD, then yeah.

When I PC gamed - nearly every single new AAA, bombastic title REQUIRED a new GPU if you wanted to run it at max. Literally REQUIRED It. Some boxes even detailed what video card you would get the best resolution, or performance from. The classic 'constant upgrade' myth! It only took a few posts about PC before that myth reared it's ugly head. I've not upgraded anything in my PC for the last two years - still playing most games on High/Ultra settings at 1080. Now if you said 'you wanted to upgrade every year because a new GPU was released and you always felt like you had to have the bleeding edge of tech and had more money than sense' I would've agreed.
It was a never ending cycle of increase ram, increase GPU capabilities, ooops your MOBO needs to be updated etc...
I will admit, nowadays it has gotten far more simple in terms of buying a PC that will last more than 3 or 4 months before needing something, but 5 or more yrs ago, this was not the case.

Haha, it could always be worse. I remember about the time i had my first machine i had a Voodoo AGP card. Back then it was 'Your game won't run on this card you need a card from...' I can't remember who the main competitor was to Voodoo back then i just remember it was the card i used to use.
Unfortunately though something your right about is the whole mobo problem. You can't just change your mobo sometimes you have to change everything >.<I Like Games.

if yo want to put badges on some people, i'd go with a casual gamer plays easy on the eye family/kiddie orientated games and mario kart while hardcore plays Halo/CoD style games and Forza.
don't have a clue what you would call those of us that play most all games on all systems though.

I respect that. I'm just pointing out that there are differing opinions out there and that not everything is driven by exclusives. There are other factors.
As I have stated before I do game on line, I'm a single player gamer. But when people want to play co-op and versus games with their friends(which is really the best way to play multi-player games) they do so on the same console. My kids play with their real life friends when they play on line.
Why does everyone automatically think of CoD when they think on line play? In my household its sports games that get the most play on line.
BTW, I would never consider another's opinion silly.I don't need no stinkin' signature!

I could say this when I walk into the soccer threads.
"Hmmm, it seems there is a lot of emotion in this thread...I like all teams, why are you guys even debating this shit, just enjoy the game!"
Talking about exclusives, online services, controllers or whatever is, for me, like sports fans discussing the strengths and weaknesses of their fav teams defense, offense or whatever. If you are happy chillin with both consoles and don't care to engage in comparison discussions then don't. I certainly don't go in to the soccer threads and start going on about how these soccer fanboys are getting all emotional just cause I don't care for the sport and have no team of preference.
I have often stated the driving force behind my contributions to these kind of discussions, and it is not from some petty justification of my purchase. I am totally happy and secure with my console of choice. If I had so wished, I could have joined the ranks of the multi console owners (thus making me 100% unbiased and removing all "fanboy" implications). I spent €450 on my 3G Vita, games and memory card. With that money I could have bought a 250GB 360 slim, a year of XBL and about 5 games from amazon...If I was interested but I'm not. I discuss these matters in light of product support and customer service, aka the strategy employed by Sony and MS in their competition against each other.
That's all it is though, a discussion of strategy. Neither strategy is superior to the other because the expectations, needs and desires of all gamers is different. It just so happens that Sony's philosophy and focus appeals to me shitloads more than that of MS.

Opinion respected!
I too have an opinion that exclusives don't necessarily drive sales. There are other factors whether some like to believe it or not.
Being a multi-console owner should have nothing to do with making one unbiased. It's about enjoying what you own and what you play, no matter what console.
I don't see how owning a certain console can be compared to sports teams though. Are you really rooting for one over the other? Do you really care if one sells more than the other? I guess being able to say that your console sells more than another's console is meaningful to some.I don't need no stinkin' signature!

It's been rosy for longer than that! Luckily when i was younger my parents bought most of my PC gaming stuff or i had 'hand me downs' from my uncles machines
But yeah, at this present moment in time PC gaming has never been easier.

I'm not really rooting for one or the other, and I'm certainly couldn't care less about sales. To some here, that point is brought up often in debates, but at the end of the day, I play games, not sales figures. Sony lets me dabble online for free (I'm primarily single player) and invests in getting more games onto their system. That's all I really care about and as much as people go on about Sony's 3rd place standing, it hasn't stopped them from investing more than MS to get games for their customers...so sales don't mean shit to me at all
. As I said, I just like comparing and discussing the strategy. Sony have a 16 year legacy of gaming excellence though and have earned my loyalty over that time. When I look at the scene today, I see one company relying heavily on 3rd party to front the cost of supporting their console while the other goes all out to provide a consistent output of exclusive content to supplement 3rd party offerings, and that gets praise and kudos from me.

It helped if you, say worked for a major importer of computer componates into your country and could get everything at cost

Shit I went through a new computer every 6 months, and flogged my old one off for a profit.
I had a Vodoo 1 (Orchird) and 2 Vodoo 2 (Orchird) SLI'd.
What ever happened to Orchird?

I remember hearing about Voodo 3 cards back in the last 90's 2 of my friends wanted one but they were mega expensive I had no idea what one was I didn't have a PC I stuck to consoles PS1 and N64 at the time those 2 could talk about psmcia tcpipsys event irq all day long and I had no effing clue what they were (they were both IT professionals)
I have played a few games that have a special 3DFX glide renderer in the options the most recent was Hitman: Codename 47 which I bought last week in the steam sales.

A bit of a tough one, its really does depend on taste, I think if you put the best exclusives going head 2 head with eachother Sony wins
As a perceptive, if you like 1 MS exclusive you'll Like the rest too, probably why sales are consistent, whereas Sony's.. Not so much
The games differ so much in style, art, gameplay everything
But it also works the other way
