PS3 vs Xbox 360: Exclusives

Which console has the better quality exclusives? In other words, if a new PS3 exclusive is announced and a new Xbox 360 exclusive is annouced, which one gets 1. the most hype and preorders and 2. the better review scores and reception?

Let's look at two third person shooters created this gen, Gears of War and Uncharted.

The first Gears of War metacrtic score is 94 out of 100 and user score is 8.4.
The first Uncharted metacritic score is 88 out of 100 and user score is 8.6.

Gears of War wins in regard to overall reviews and reception. It probably wins in the preorder and hype category as well.

Let's look at two later gen exclusives, Heavy Rain and Alan Wake.

Heavy Rain metacrtic score is 87 out of 100 and 6.9 user score.
Alan Wake metacritic score is 83 out of 100 and a 7.9 user score.

Alan Wake takes the pie in regards to reviews.

I know this way of evaluating has holes in it. I should have included the awards won by the new IPs and preorder and hype numbers.

I would have made this thread better, but I don't have the time right now. I already typed all this up so I will post it.

What are your thoughts? How would YOU come up with a conclusion which console has the better exclusives? Which one do you think has the better exclusives?

There is no absolute. No console has the better exclusives. If you are going by metacritic, then a look at the exclusive titles from 80 upwards shows that Sony has more, but in general the games are more or less the same. It just depends on your tastes.

I only ever go on about exclusives as an aspect of product support. I have more respect for Sony because they have a higher output but the quality is totally subjective. Metacritic is good to judge the general critical reception of a game but each title on all systems speaks individually to the gamer. Quality is graphics? Game play mechanics? QA? Innovation? Both systems have great titles, that's the bottom line, Sony's line up is a bit more diverse and caters to more genres, but that's about it.

The 360 has a lot of low-lower profile exclusives that I quite enjoy, these are the ones I have that haven't been mentioned yet:

But yeah, without turning this into phat list warz, I must say there are a decent amount of exclusives for the 360, sine at first glance there appears to be very little. The problem is, the ball has been dropped and there is practically none coming out :/


Overall though, I do feel PS3 has better exclusives, there are more of them and the quality and diversity is there too - which is important.

Gears Judgement in 2013 isnt Kinect. In 2013 we'll propably be hearing about the next Xbox anyway. New IPs? No. And what big exclusives does Sony have for holiday 2012?

Very true. Even though 360 has fewer exclusives the ones they do have I really enjoy. And PS3 has a few more in number that I also enjoy but there are also quite a few that just dont appeal to me. I actually enjoy alot more of the 3rd party games that are out there. Skyrim for example is my favorite game this gen.

Games like Halo and Forza are some of their more popular titles. They probably don't want to risk losing potential sales for the Xbox 360.

I think the PS3 has a better lineup. The 360 has some fantastic IPs like Gears of War and Halo, but the PS3 lineup is more consistently great.

So less is more now? lol I like having a wider variety of choices this holiday. Just like in 2013 Sony will propably be the one to give me more choices. And whether or not you have plenty of games to play still doesn't change the fact that Sony has no big exclusives for holiday 2012.

I am still looking for the facts behind our PS3 having the most exclusives. The PS3 has the LEAST by a landslide actually. Not that it matters, because quantity isn't as important as quality, which they both achieve in spades.

I mean, what exactly are the solid ongoing series on the Ps3?
Killzone took a nose dive, Resitence is finsihed, Motorstorm for PS3 is finished, GT doesnt even count as a series as its only had one release,maybe infamous and Uncharted might make a come back......

The PS3 has a ton of exclusives, way more than the 360, so you have to give the nod to the PS3.

Thats would be 8 more, not a ton.
