I do wonder how drive upgrades would work with the 16GB models. I am guessing such a model would have the storage on the main board inside the ps3. Would the added hard drive add to the systems total storage or most likely over ride it?

With those types of prices i don't see why they wouldn't sell. I'm sure the 16GB will be a hit. Sony just has to make sure that people know about it.

the 250gb @ 229 still seems a bit high to me? That's a $20 cut, albeit with more HDD space - I thought they'd have been able to squeeze it down a bit more than that, $200 would be killer, $150 for the 16gb

I'd imagine they've left themselves with a bit of leg room as well, so $150 16gig could be a real possibility sooner rather than later

Yes it is 16GB but its flash memory and not an actual HDD, you can get a 1Tb Hdd for about £90 now which isnt bad price

Hmm ok. Well if they can set it at $199 in the US I think it would give PS3 sales a shot in the arm here. Especially if Sony really push some commercials for it and keep reminding potential consumers about the free online.

Not impressed with pricing if true. It should be $149.99 for the 16GB model, $199.99 for the 250GB and $249.99 for 500GB.

That would make the 16GB the sweetest deal if you are anything like me and have a couple spare 2.5" HDDs lying around.
