Not impressed with pricing if true. It should be $149.99 for the 16GB model, $199.99 for the 250GB and $249.99 for 500GB.

Nah, of course not. We'll see 14+ new sku's lol. j/k of course but had to throw the PS2 in there lol. These seem like really good prices. I'll have to take a gander of the cheapest one and see how that will fit the kids in their room.

$179 is a $70 price drop from the cheapest retail price of the PS3.

that's a pretty good price drop even if it's only 16GB because a lot of people I know only have Xbox 360's with no harddrives so this should appeal to those people who just go for the cheaper price.

PS3 will be under a few kids Christmas Tree this year at $179.

It don't have to. all it has to do is get the PS3 in the homes of people who are just looking for a cheap PS3 , they can buy a harddrive later.

If these prices are true, Sony is going to sell a boat load of hardware this holiday. A PS3 under $200? It's never been done before.

Impressive isn't the right word for the PS3 only being 3 million sales behind its competitor despite launching a year later and always being more expensive. More like down right astounding. This might very well put Sony over the top this generation.

16GBs? Really? Don't care how cheap it is you at least owe people a decent size drives for those hefty installs. That's absolute bullshit for an amazing price. Should still sell well though.

Are we sure that you will be able to change the HDD yourself in the new models? I have a feeling it wont be possible.

If it is possible though there is no point getting any other model than the cheapest. Assuming you can use a screwdriver of course.

Pretty sure it has, not officially but through some 1 week only deals and whatnot.

And I still stand by my prediction that eventually both will outsell the Wii LTD.

It's defintely reaching that point of value for the masses. A console under €/$200 with free online and a shitload of AAA classics/essentials could wrap shit up...IF marketed. If these prices are correct and if Sony play their cards right, they should have a good Xmas.

A $179.99 PS3 is cheap but a $149.99 price point is appealing to the eyes.

Right now a 40GB hard drive is probably way more than a 160GB hard drive so that wouldn't help with the price.

It can be changed to any drive size though, which you can buy for a decent price, unlike with MS's Xbox drives which cost an eye and a hand.
