Yes it is huge, so huge it has been around for quite some time, and will more than likely be around for A LOT longer. Since this is the case they might as well get things better > right with the franchise or unlike their original saving grace, FF will be what send SE to the grave.

Plus their manner of teasing followed by untold gaps of time between tease only equate to pouring salt in a gushing wound.

I'll tell you exactly why they canceled this game if it's true. because they were going to ship us another linear piece of crap. I personally think Sony pulled all there cash away and probably told S/E to fuck off.

Sony has no bearing whatsoever on what SE decides to do as a company with their IPs. If anything at this point and time theres a higher chance of Sony requesting the game be delayed for the PS4 before then Sony telling SE to STFU and cancel a game they had no hand in producing whatsoever.

I've defended Square Enix this entire generation. If this is true, they are officially garbage.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII looked amazing when it was announced. To just crush the dream like that and not even mention that it's been canceled? Yeah, that's just bullshit.

Honestly...the merger between Square and Enix may have been the worse thing to happen to the Japanese gaming industry in the last 15 years....The quality of titles just dropped, probably because there was no longer a true competitor

Oh well can't say that I'm surprised at all. The game has pretty much been at a stalemate for a while now. Leave it up to SE to royally piss some people off. They will probably break down some of the aspects of the game and use it for XIII-3 or XV.

They should just either confirm the cancellation at TGS or give us a release date at TGS, cause it may just turn out to still be alive but more than 1 year of waiting like 6 weren't enough.

If these rumors are false then a quick denial by Square-Enix would suffice (especially as cancellation of Versus might cause their stock price to fall a bit). However, we've not heard anything from them so far.

Like I said, I really don't think VersusXIII got canceled.

Just saying if/when it does come out, I wouldn't rely on it being the best FF ever etc.

The funny thing is that only Kotaku is reporting this and only Kagari is denying it as false. Only two sources of info in this whole case. Everyone else is just reporting it as news. Let's see how this unfolds.
