I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy IX. Anyone else here enjoy it?

IX is a very solid game, but if I remember correctly, the story didn't really get going until halfway through the game. Luckily it has the most likable cast out of all the entries I've played, so it's still entertaining in other ways. I also wish the battle speed could be turned up higher, especially when you're using less than 4 characters, which happened quite often.

But again, everything else about the game was very good besides those two flaws. The world, soundtrack, characters, art direction, etc.

The bad thing is that you can't use Aura on yourself once you use Holy Wars or Hero so it's best to Aura yourself first then Hero/Holy Wars. Although the Gilgamesh card is more difficult to obtain compared to Laguna.

I believe you have to save before dueling the CCC King (Won't spoil it lol). Its the same difficulty as for any rare card. You just got to hope it comes out and you win. Also, this had only happened to me once when seeing the CCC players on the ragnarok from the fourth disc; I was able to win duplicate of the rare cards.

The only problem with being invincible you can't use magic on yourself except for dispel correct me if I'm wrong. You rarely need to use the Holy Wars though, I recommend only using them for fights such as Omega, Ultima and Final form of Ultimecia; let her cast Hell's Judgement and holy war straight afterwards. Hopefully you have trained enough to have mostly everyone's limit break excluding Selphie and Quistis.

I've never played IX how is it? I might get it.

It's pretty amazing, to say the least. Great story, colorful cast of characters, music and gameplay. For me, it's pretty much the whole package.

Equipping different pieces of armor and whatnot boosts your stats. Limit Breaks are replaced with Trance Mode, where your party members take on a more badass yet familiar form. You also have Active Time Events where you can view and control more than one person at a time to solve puzzles and get more of the story.

The game also follows the familiar character class concept of older titles where each party member has their own unique ability in battle i.e. Zidane can steal items, Vivi can cast black magic spells, Dagger can heal other party members etc. Steiner can even perform special moves with the help of Vivi.

And if you want to take a break from the story, you can try out Tetra Master, the in-game card game. I know most people prefer Final Fantasy VIII's Triple Triad but I've really grown to like Tetra Master over the dozens of times I've played through Final Fantasy IX.

Final Fantasy IX also came on four discs for the PlayStation. And I know people like to complain about changing discs but I really didn't care. It was like going through your favorite television show, only you don't need to wait a couple months to continue the story. I'm still amazed at how huge the game feels.

Probbaly yeah, just got ifrit, Squall already has 100 fire, blizzard, cure and thunder one more fight till i get card ability then no more xp for me!
