He lasted 4 turns with me so I wasn't that far behind ya

I wasnt using darkside, which does my max damage, usquall hits for 3-4k or 9999 with darkside, each hit heals me 2.5-3k hp too!
My 3rd turn was Darkside because seifer taunted me saying I was weak
Darkside cuts hp but increases damage, so I lose 999hp but deal 9,999 but due to drain I gain 3,000-3,500 hp back anyway, though I do still lose 999hp, next darkside I get it back, then lose it again e.t.c drain comes before the darkside side effect

Don't blame you mate! I would have used darkside side from the start, can't stand Seifer!

Damn Chille you crazy! I got some time in and actually playing right now. I've got the Minimog, Quistis, and Zell Cards. Just finished my SeeD mission. I tried to defeat the boss but couldn't on my first try so just ended up running. Lol. I ended up with a Rank 3. Now I'm on my way to meet Quistis at the training center

I knew that part, but no stats like spirit, magic or luck would affect?

I finished the SeeD exam with rank 8 which is okay I guess. I'm at the training center with Quistis and got myself a couple of T-rexaur card already but I'm really looking for Shumi Tribe cards here. The Grats drop them occasionally but they're really rare. I only got 2 so far.

However my card deck is complete enough now to start playing. I need good card because I really suck at triple triads :-/

Get the mini mog card from the little boy jogging around Balamb, then you should have enough good cards to challenge the trepe group and win the Quistis card

Should be easy enough man, wait until later in the game though when the same and plus rules get implemented! those rules are a pain in the ass lol

For disc 1 I decided to go with the following setup:

Cell (fighter):
Ifrit + Siren (their junctions complement each other pretty well)

Healer (Quistis):
Quetzacotl (Card ability)
Brothers (don't have a better place for them)

Squall:
Shiva + Diablos (no encounters + Mug)

With this setup I can farm AP if I want to and otherwise just play the story after I got all the abilities I'm interested in.
Also balamb beach is a good place for getting AP as the Fastitocalons leave 6 AP if you card them (not as good as Cactaur island though).
