So much hype for it during the lifetime of the PS3 and yet nothing.

Played a little bit more. Completed the Galbadia Garden part. Got Cerberus and Alexander, and am at the orphanage. I got the Edea card, but when I tried getting Seifer, I ended up losing some cards so I ended up quitting lol. Damn random and direct rules screwed me over!

I'm a couple hours in and it's basically what I expected so far. More crappy writing, but a much better overall gameplay experience.

Hell nah. I didn't really like FFXIII, so I'm not going to get the collector's edition of its sequel.

Glad to know you're enjoying it. It's a bit weird getting into it, but it's a pretty decent game. The monster taming part isn't my style, but I guess it suits the game. And eventually you'll just get a few powered up monsters of a few different classes, and you don't really have to worry about it anymore. Yes, the writing is still crappy, but at least it flows a bit better with this one.

As for the sound track, it's still good. Can't blame you for not spending the extra money to get it though. I personally waited several months to buy FFXIII-2. Waited until amazon sold the collector's edition for $60.00. Man I'm cheap. Oh well, still haven't beaten the game. Heck, I'm only about 1/3 of the way through and I haven't played the game in about 2 months.

Bought FF XIII-2 on release, played 8 hours and haven't went back. It is an improvement over XIII imo, as Ixion says the gameplay is better. The gameplay is what XIII should have been, however XIII-2 still ranks pretty low in my list of FF games I've played

I just can't believe how bad the writing is. You're just bombarded by trite lines that don't actually say anything, and almost every scene is melodramatic and overdone. And Serah is such a terrible character. My god.

But yes, the pacing is much improved. It's good being able to wander around a town and talk to people, or go over to the hostile areas and do some fighting.

But without a good story, I don't feel any attachement to the world.

"Did" lol Take it easy man. I was still pretty young. I didn't know what I was doing especially that grid/sphere level up system. So that's why I'm more eager to play since I'm older and understand more.
