Next Infinity Ward “Call Of Duty” Likely To Be For PS4 & Xbox 720

Infinity Ward are working on Call of Duty games – that’s no surprise. Why wouldn’t they be? What might be surprising though is that the next one, according to an online resume at least, is likely to be for the next generation of consoles in addition to the current one.
Kotaku cites one Andrew Aye, engineer on Modern Warfare 3, who says his next project is for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PCs with DirectX11 support and – most interestingly – TBA platforms. The TBA platforms aren’t likely to be Vita and 3DS, that much should be obvious.
Black Ops 2 is this year’s Call of Duty, so assuming the next one is next year, and it’s Infinity Ward behind the wheel, this could well give us some indication as to when PS4 and Xbox 720 (for want of a better name) might be available, with late 2013 being a decent guess.
Or, of course, maybe he’s talking about something else.

Not surprised. If we were still stuck with the PS360 in November '13 I'd be quite disappointed

It'll probably be that awkward game that is somewhere inbetween because a version for 360 and PS3 will still be released.

Why should they? When you know that people will buy your product no matter what, why spend money to innovate? Might as well spend the money on developing yet another similar game with improved graphics.
Whoops, did I just describe the development cycle for COD games?
Almost everyone will say: buy console that has games that you want, and those who say otherwise are ignorant.

    Playstation Move for the win!

Of course they'll use a new engine for next gen. The only reason they haven't heavily changed this engine is because the consoles can't handle much else when they aim for 60FPS. Once they have more horsepower next gen we will have much better visuals and other effects.

But as i say to all of those that criticise Call of Duty for not innovating - what would YOU change? If you think they don't change enough, what is it that you think they can change without breaking what CoD is known for?

People love criticising CoD saying it isn't innovative but when you call them out they can't think of anything themselves to improve it and leave it with a half-assed "Well, i'm not a developer so i don't know" answer.

Tell me, what can you change on CoD without changing the basics of CoD. Fast, fluid, arena based gameplay. Unless your just going with the popular notion what is to hate on CoD because it is outselling most other games.

Meh.. The next one in 2013 won't be on a new Xbox or PS; mainly because neither company will have a new console out then.

As soon as they put something like COD on a new system, regardless if the same game is on ps360 or not, it will sell well and sell consoles well
