Doom, Rage or Quake sequels headed to next gen platforms?id Software is seeking experienced UI programmers to work on "cutting-edge technology for an unannounced game on future-generation consoles".
The job listing asks for "familiarity with id Software games, characters, brands and universes", suggesting the studio might be cooking up a next-gen Doom, Rage or Quake sequel. Reports last year suggested id parent Zenimax had decided to indefinitely postpone Doom 4. However, id design director Matthew Hooper later teased fans by saying they'll "see awesome" when Doom 4 is officially revealed.
In 2010 ZeniMax acquired Machinegames, a European studio founded by ex-Starbreeze devs. Although little is known about what it's working on, internet whispers have speculated it could be Wolfenstein related.
