I have post traumatic stress syndrome from bullying

It's official, I have Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from bullying.

I made some threads a long time ago telling about a guy who bullied me constantly from 6th grade to 11th grade, which is the year I came out of public school and was home schooled.

Well, I've been having nightmares frequently about it. I have nightmares, bad nightmares about it. I told my mental health therapist and doctor about it and they told me I have "PTSS" or "post traumatic stress syndrome".

I just want to move on.

And for those of who won't believe me or will say I make threads about bullying and harassment for attention, I can get evidence to prove you wrong.

I know how hard that can be to deal with, one of my good friends had a very similar problem. It took him about a year to get over it, that was with fairly frequent therapy. Obviously you can never be 'fully' over it but you will learn to deal with it well. I wish you the best

The only reason I thought you were "lying" was because some of the posts seemed like you told only your side of the story and it seemed like they bullied you for no reason whatsoever. Just randomly bullying you. There's always a reason. A hair color, a shirt you wear, a way you talk. Something so trivial is a reason for parasites to bully you like they did me in high school. But it all changes in college. Everyone is mature, well mostly.

But I find a good way to clear my mind is trying the art of lucid dreaming. It's not an easy task, but it's relaxing and it's certainly great for sleeping and stress problems. And when you achieve a lucid dream state, you can cure your nightmares. You can block them out because you are aware that you are dreaming. I would suggest listening to binaural beats on youtube while falling asleep. Or load some into your mp3 player. Just relax and clear your mind.

Stay positive and understand you have total control of your relationships you have in your life. I hate hearing about bullying sorry you had to deal with it but you know you have good people on the forum to help you stay positive.

That's too bad, I think though it's as much from how YOU deal with the bullying internally as it is FROM the bullying.

I had a problem with bullies for years, until I kicked one of the dudes asses. I was always told by my mom to not fight, try to reason, and with bullies it never worked. So, she eventually gave me the go ahead and I rolled the dude, most bullies are actually pretty easy to beat. Went to a new school (due to an issue with being out of district) had a couple tools try to bully me there, stood my ground, all was well.

I'm not sure if you ever stood your ground, but for me it was much less stressful AFTER the fact because I changed the rules at that time. They knew that, if they messed with me, I wasn't going to take it any longer.

Just remember, you have the power within you to decide how you cope with these types of people. At least, that's my two cents... either you have to learn how to cope with it internally by realizing they are very sad people with terrible lives/futures, or show force and make it known you won't tolerate it anymore. Even if you get you end up losing a fight, bullies really don't want to pick on people that they know will actually fight back, even if they think they will win, they pick on those they think won't fight back (generally, from my experience) and once that paradigm changes they generally move on to someone else.

I was bullied all through high school as well. Luckily I was able to take that and better myself in every way possible. I guess it is easier for men though since I was able to physically change. Guess that's why nobody bullied anymore....

You need to take all that and push it away. Kids will be kids and they do stupid stuff. You are a grown woman now and the kid shit is over. Trust Dr. Lethal.

Yes but kids must be taught how to be proper human beings and most kids are not taught that these days so they become horrible human beings as adults as well. Too many people are fucked up.
Education needs to be more than just academics.

I did. He wasn't as extreme as the movie makes him out to be, but he was a two-sided asshole. One day he would be nice to me, the next he would be an asshole. I had to succumb the last two years of high school with this piece of shit on the same bus as me because a friend of his dropped out, so why not take me as his friend, right?

Anyway, I'm glad it's over and he constantly tried to add me on facebook numerous times, but I kept blocking his requests. He'll never have my respect. He's on my shitlist. But I feel he's already paying for it by me not talking to him.

This to the max. Its easy to stop getting bullied when a boy can get stronger and bigger then the bully. And if hes smarter, he can degrade the shit out of the bully while beating the fuck out of him. Bullying ends there.

I once knew a Hawaiian from high school, he was tiny and bullied because of it. Then in 10th, to 11th grade summer break, he grew nearly a foot taller, and continued through the school year, he also trained like crazy so be was huge, and scary. He didn't even have to do anything, the bullies just left him alone.

Its also that bullies only do what they do for attention, if you completely ignored them whenever they were bullying, eventually out of boredom they stop. Or its just an asshole that needs to be put into his/her place.

The guy I'm talking about, I tried to end it. I asked him why he was doing it, and he never answered. I got tired of it and had a physical fight with him. It never stopped, although I beat him up.

Thinking back on it, I remember some guys in high school talking about that maybe something was wrong with him. He had a habit of hitting and beating on girls, including his pregnant girlfriend. Maybe that's why he bullied me to such an extent, because I wouldn't let him go through and get things out of my purse.

I forgive him and that's one thing I think I've made progress on, I do forgive him.

He had a habit of bullying girls, I never saw him bully a guy before.

God i remember bullies well, one day in english class had my head smashed into the door by some of the bullies and in design and technology they shoved a bin full of rusty nails on my head, lucky none actually did any damage but still wasnt nice! Ahhh :/

bullys only bully people physically and mentally weaker than them. imo there's no excuse for being bullied unless you're handicapped. every reason why you were/are bullied could be changed or could've been avoided.

btw first impressions are everything when it comes to how people treat you. think about the first time you and the bully made contact.

Well I've never been really bullied, but I've always been the ''odd one out'' so I've been laughed at even by my closest friends and I would be the guy who would be chosen last for everything. I know that feel very well. So what did I do? I used those experiences as fuel to improve myself, physically and mentally. I trained hard, studied hard and made time for myself to improve myself as an individual. It's still a work in progress, but I'm noticing some differences in me and I'm not the same guy who could be just pushed around by anyone.

I'm kind of glad I didn't have an easy time as a kid, I wouldn't be who I am without it. And I am proud of who I am. You should be too.
