Hello, new here, I have a very important (to me) question: I need a new amazing RPG!!! Iv'e played Skyrim (a lot- never actually finished :P), Dark Souls, a little Oblivion, Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning (haven't finished), and currently playing with Daggerfall (Boxer for Mac).
Now, I LOVE the idea of Daggerfall - huge world, can't ever explore all of it, amazing right? But... it's a lot of filler space... sprites as trees on nearly infinite snow/sand landscape - can't even walk between areas (forced to fast travel). I love the randomly generated dungeons... but.... yeah.
Can anyone help me find the ULTIMATE RPG?? I want something HUGE, like Daggerfall, but with amazing landscape like Skyrim (too easy though..), I love VERY difficult games, but games like Dark Souls do get easy when you learn them, I want games that take SKILL! Like tactical, but RPG. Iv'e heard Dragon's Dogma is good, but has little content and not very good storyline. I want a memorable world and storyline, handcrafted with care, all that. Any help? Suggestions? I don't want to start a 'Best RPG fight' or anything, just awesome suggestions.
PS3 games only please (besides like old DOS) and btw- I love Elder Scrolls, they are just too easy... and I know about Morrowind - so yeah.
Ooh! - and - open world! (obviously!) freedom!
Thanks very much in advance!!!
PPS: and they must be like medieval- middle ages- like ULTRA FANTASY- like Elder Scrolls!!

Yeah.... Iv'e never liked the ultra mangaish non middle-ages games like that.. Is it really good though?? Maybe I should read more about it... Does it have like a ton of gameplay? I'm looking for a 400 hour + game.. like... that I play FOREVER!!!!
... yeah it's just not my style..
More Elder Scrolls like games is my style. But DIFFICULT ones!

Dark Souls isn't "easy" neccesarily.., it's just once you learn I mean its like.... yeah... It just gets simpler because the bosses are 500x bigger than you it's just like- ok die 1000 times, and eventually you'll make it. I like games where it vs people, so it actually takes skill, not fighting a 200000 pound monster that is just luck to kill... you know? I almost think games with very difficult humanoid characters takes more skill than huge iron things with an axe. Thanks though!!

The COD series is good because of the engine.

White Knight Chronicles?
it long, has big ass knights, story is decent, and it's an openinsh type world.
however, its similar to Final Fantasy visually, and is somewhat easy. i never tried any other difficulty other then what shipped...

I just think, that say Skyrim, BIGGER, MORE DIFFICULT, SLOWER LEVELING, ENEMIES DON'T LEVEL WITH YOU... etc
WOULD BE FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!!
hahaha yeah in my dreams...
and how daggerfall makes the classes not be able to mix, like an assassin cannot wear warrior armor- it makes the game so much more fun.....

Dragon Age Origins is one of my favorite WRPGs. As i was reading your original post, my head was screaming "DRAGON AAAAAAGE!!!!" Good thing someone else thought the same way.
I found the story very interesting; you could easily like and relate with the characters; battle system is pretty basic but the highest difficulty is, well, difficult indeed; the world may not be as "open" as you want it to be, but the locales are still pretty diverse; many side quests and high replay value, plus there is additional content in the form of Awakening. Cool eh? I haven't played Dark Souls yet so I can't compare it with that.
Dragon Age 2... I'd say it didn't live up to the standards of the first. The story was mildly interesting; the characters ranged from meh to ugh (for me); gameplay was a LOT easier due to faster animations and overpowered skills (I think); pretty much confined to one area (plus a lot of reused dungeons). I only grew to appreciate the game on my third playthrough (I replayed the game with different classes).
So, definitely go for the first!

Can anyone compare Dragon Age Origins on ps3 and pc? I know the combat is more tactical on pc, but is it THAT MUCH different on ps3?? I know this is PSU, but please be unbiased hahahahaha!!
I am on a mac with NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB so would it even run? and is it different on mac and pc?
thanks a lot!!!!
EDIT [ps] : and I'm not a 'PC gamer' so I am used to the ps3, which can make a difference if you know what I mean.Last edited by evanthealmighty; 07-27-2012 at 04:29.

I also recommend Dragon Age Origins. Actually i just started another story today,it's like playing a whole new game all over again
I had no intentions of becoming a leader. It is as a warrior how I shall be remembered, but these are hardly numbers worth dying for.

Look up Neir. Underrated gem of a game.
Dragon Age Origins is better on PC but still very very playable on PS3. Get the Ultimate Edition for lots of content.

Why don't you try Resonance of Fate?
It's not a well-known game and is buried by all those AAA titles, but I am going through it now and I find it challenging, irritating and unique...(:
