The article gave plenty of information on the matter hence why I believe that a sign could have prevented this tragedy. The gist of what I got was that Riley approached Roop's home with the intention to sell crab; Roop's testimony was that he asked him what he was doing in his yard and that he was scared by Riley's tone of voice and attitude, resulting in the shooting(Plus he aimed at the head for 'effect'). Furthermore according to witnesses, he started threatening everyone. Then again the way they described this situation makes it seem like, Roop was mentally unstable before this incident.

Except the suspects testimony, none of those are facts. That's all speculation without anything to support it right now. You have one witness that was "right there" saying he said "this", but only says, "sorta". Please... this is just one more thing to talk up an incident that happened, without much factual info, and writes it out however they want people to react about it.

    Claude,
It doesn't have anything to do with "America". This happens worldwide, period.

People try to "sell" things or go to houses, stores, etc., regardless of the "no soliciting" signs. Thinking that this guy wouldnt have been shot if there was a sign on his law, house, etc., is a little (can't think of the word).

This is nuts, but then again only in america. Where you are able to shoot someone and plead the safety card, when you are completely in the wrong

In Florida we have the stand your ground law. So if you come to my house and you pose a thread i can shot and kill you how ever if you run off i can not shot you. There is alot of gray area with this law however

Let me clue you in. In ANY part of the world, you can shoot someone and claim safety. PERIOD. You're last part of that makes no sense whatsoever to blame that on America when you're cutting out a lot of wording to promote your hatred for America apparently.

Well then you are living in a fairytale.

And for the record, getting show with an arrow is worse than a gunshot nearly all the time.

I'm not so sure I believe that man. I think gun wounds are definitely worse, of course this depends on the bullet and arrow.

Trespassing in this instance would be hard to prove if the victim was simply at the mans front door or on his drive way.

No it's not. Simple. Check out Florida law, statute 810.08.

    I'll give you the basic...

"He was coming into my yard, and I told him to leave. He didn't leave my property." That's trespassing, period.

You would've thought a simple shove would suffice, wouldn't you? Maybe we just do things differently here in the UK
