With more people becoming insured, there's going to be a shortage of doctors. First it was nurses like RNs, now it's doctors.

If you've got the brains and you have no clue what to do in college, become a doctor.

This is true. I heard that there's a special need for eye doctors specifically and they're being paid A LOT while there's tons of spots open worldwide. Sucks for me 'cause like Devious I can't stand anything related to the medicinal field lol.

What sucks worse you get into law then the Bar field sends you a letter while your waiting to hear back from your results if you passed or not informing you there is a job shortage in the law field. So basically you complete your major go to 2 years of law school pass the bar and your only options are be a public defender and get paid 44k (orange county, orlando fl) or try your had at personal injury which is like the used car salesman of the law field. Oh yea and your in INSTANT debt of 45k+ thanks for going to college like you were told to.

I double majored in business so i was able to find a great paying job so i lucked out but i have plenty of friend in a shitty situation because they chose to do something they wanted to do. All my friends that went into medicial are making good money and have plentyful employment.

If i had to do it all over again....I think i probably do the same LOL

I have the skills to become a doctor but I've always despised hospitals and doctors in general. I don't want to develop apathy and corruption in my lifetime.

My dad wanted me to become one. But I hate the feeling of being in the hospital stayed overnight a couple of times..not that fun being hooked up to an IV.

because becoming a doctor is so simple, right?

years of my life spent buried in books only to emerge to a lawsuit? i think i'll pass. when doctors are held with actual respect amongst the common plebs i'll think otherwise.

even if 99.99% of lawsuits are menial, i'd prefer to do without the trouble.

Your better off going to a certification for RN, pharmacy tech, or eye tech assistant. A couple months and your making decent money and you have job security. That would be my honest advice to any young person that doesnt know what they want to be and want to make decent money.

A*A*A*A*AAAAAAA A*A*A* grades, then 5 years hardcore university, then training probably 50-60 hour weeks relentless.

I have love for the doctor and respect, but it is a seriously tough job that requires you to have stamina, intellect and compassion to the max.

Not everyone has it in them to be a doctor, you seriously have to be the cream of the crop.

Oh really? Then why do does laughing make me cough and also makes my sides hurt really bad and when I start I cannot stop for almost an hour and sometimes cough up blood and chunks of sticky sputem that stinks?

Never did find out what was wrong with me, it lasted for months and months until it gradually went away.

I had that couple years ago, found out i had a lung infection.

hey i hate hospitals too but i am in the medical field...sister is a family physician, other sister is a Registered Nurse (wife is in school to become an anesthesiologist) and i'm in school now to become a physical therapist (assistant first). its definitely not for everyone, you might have the brains but man you have to have that drive to want it

That's the apathy I was referring to. They observe you from a distance and assume that they know what's wrong with you. While some doctors are really good at their job, I found the majority to lack compassion and don't take your concerns seriously. If you feel like your doctor isn't helping your situation, find another. The problem you experienced should be taken very seriously.

How long ago was this?. Even if you're not experiencing these symptoms now, I strongly suggest a check up(With someone who cares). Remember that you might eventually have permanent damage as you get older, don't take your health lightly.

It works out for some people. I know a girl who is in vet school and she's going through heck financial wise and study wise. When she graduates, she'll be in a LOT of debt.
