While the actual gameplay purpose behind "minions" remains unknown, it appears that they consist of characters intimately tied with the playable fighter in question. Some may appear as part of the character's Super attacks, others may make stage cameos; who really knows at this point.
Here's the full list of eight leaked fighters, as uncovered by GameFAQS user rumbalumba and others:
Nariko - Heavenly Sword. Minion: Kai
Dante - DMC. Minion: Kat

Raiden makes "more sense" when you think that Konami wants to advertise Metal Gear Rising.
But I seriously hope this won't be real, or at least final roster because it's still missing some characters I REALLY want, like Sora or some FF-character etc.
