My 60gb launch day phat, that my brother has been using for a couple years, died today. It was coming though, just last week the fan went into berzerker mode and was scary loud. Perhaps the hot humid climate we've had in London this past week played it's part here but anyway, it's dead now
Was wondering if it's at all possible to just take the 60gb hdd out and put it into my slim, and back up the saves that way? Or is it assigned/reigstered to the phatty? Thankfully there's no disk in the drive.
I plan on attempting to fix it myself (reflow and reapply thermal paste) using Youtube vids or advice from anyone here that's done it. Or if I can find some place local that will fix it for a decent price I'll just do that ^.^. I've opened it up once before to clean the BR laser so the inside won't be that alien to me
Any help would be appreciated![]()
