The person walking in front of you drops some money . . .

You're walking down the street. Suddenly, the person walking in front of you has money fall out of their pocket. Not a wallet, not a credit card, but cash.

What do you do? I'm curious to what PSU members would do, that's all.

    Do you:

    A. "Hey, you dropped this!" Give it back to them.
    B. "Oh yeah, I'm eating out tonight!" Keep it.
    C. "Hmmm. . ." It depends on how much it is.

Assuming it's a normal stranger and anything substantial (I mean, I'm not going to bother returning a dime or penny) then I would simply return it.

Irrelevant of how much they drop, I do the same thing; notify them that they dropped it.

If I see someone drop it or if they walk away from an ATM I'll call them

If I see money on the floor with no one around to believe its theirs - I'll keep it.

I see you've decided to stay once again, TBW?

I've been back for a while. The last post I made in the leaving thread was more of a "I'll be around less" post. It's true because Fall 2012 semester is about to start in August.

I pretty much agree with Rapture. If it's a few coins, I wouldn't even bother telling them or even picking it up myself. But I'd hand a wad of notes back to them.

I'm curious who'd agree with me on this... If I hadn't seen them drop it (in other words I didn't know who it belonged to), I would probably keep it. I'm talking 100's, not 1000's. If it's too much, I'd give it to the police (for the risk of it being drug money or something!)

    this.

i did some charity work in London once, damn near broke my soul when they told me they keep all their money in their wallets. the amounts ranged from £10-£30 pounds

in typical brit fashion though, they managed to get a laugh out of it

I'd return it. Sometimes I've traveled all the way to the police station to return a lost wallet.

But, what would you guys do if someone dropped a 10 000 dollar stack of money right in front of ya?

I have had this happen to me. Give it back to them of course. I would want someone to give back my cash if I dropped it, so that's what I do if I come across that situation.

It is okay to keep money that you come across that has no obvious owner. (no one around. No wallet or I.D. with it) Otherwise it is just a step below stealing.
