First Look Fall 2012 Xbox LIVE Dashboard Update Preview

I have always said I was not interested in browsing the web on my console. But with my Xbox 360 Qwerty Keyboard accessory, and the speed and ease of this new IE, wow it is nice. Great quality webpage appearance, fast and very simple to use. Every site I visit shows up on each one of my Xboxes at home too, and I didn't even have to enable any cloud settings for IE.

Pinning items to the home page is nice as well, giving you some personalization. You can pin websites, games, movies, videos...any media that the Xbox supports. You can also rearrange them.

The dashboard is faster, and it is a much clearer display. The metro boxes popout with a new quality feel, not so flat. The layout is much improved as well.

I wasn't aware that you could rename your Xbox though until I saw the video above. I am so glad they did that. Now I know which Xbox is which from my computer.

What are your thoughts so far, and what other hidden features have you found?

I have not checked out the Xbox Music service yet though.

Sorry I just absolutely hate these dashboards.. they just worse and worse in terms of look and functionality. It takes too long to get to anywhere important and its mostly ads. So much dislike :/
I suppose pinning stuff is a step in the right direction but I just hate it passionately haha.

Not everyone will have the same taste

I am glad mine isn't mostly ads. That would piss me off. I only have one ad on mine, and it's a little square in the corner.

Obviously not everyone has the same taste this is just me voicing mine.

And my xbox is full of ads all the time I've swapped it to auto disk start because I just don't want to deal with the interface anymore

Must be location based then. I wonder why they are inconsistent?

I usually use the Xbox 360 guide 99% of the time.

So far so good. I like what they did. The boxes look smaller but better.

I don't see all of these ads either. There are some small ones but they are in no way obtrusive and unless you're on the lookout for them, they can be easily overlooked.

I wish Microsoft would make the dashboard different than everything else. I hate how it copies Windows 8 and their phones. It should have it's own Xbox specifically designed dashboard.

They've got a brand to maintain.
