New Final Fantasy XIII project “just started running”
Square Enix's Ichimura talks new action RPG.

On September 1, Square Enix will host its “Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Saga: New Developments Presentation” at the Final Fantasy 25th anniversary event in Shibuya, where it will detail the next expansion of the Final Fantasy XIII project.

In Famitsu this week, Final Fantasy XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase told the magazine that “the [new] project just started running.”
Separate from the Final Fantasy XIII project, Square Enix’s Ryutaro Ichimura said he is developing a new “hardware-less” action RPG. According to Ichimura, “you’ll be able to access it anywhere, play under any circumstance, play where you like, and on the hardware you prefer.” And “you can continue playing on the hardware you have at home on a big, clear screen.”

By the sounds of it, it’s possible this could be that PlayStation 3 and PS Vita action RPG Square’s 1st Production Department was said to be developing in Decemberlast year. But then that’d cancel out the whole “on the hardware you prefer” tidbit.
Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

Just like I've been personally speculating, this won't be a "XIII-3". It'll be something like FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus. An action game based on Lightning.

well to announce a trailer from behind the doors is pretty ridiculous but coming from SE it's nothing new, they have been like this since FF7. I remember when they announced FF7, they announced it like over a year before release. this is just what they do.

no we shouldn't really want a XIII-3. that would be silly.

I enjoyed XIII-2 thoroughly. I can't say I disliked XIII but I will admit it was too restricted which made my adventure dull. Square did say that the "Fabula Nova Crystallis" was a 10 year cycle; so I wouldn't expect FFXV any time soon although if it does come out of no where then I'll gladly take a look at it with arms wide open. I don't mind what they're planning, just hope there's news and time for each game to be played while future projects are taking its time in developement. I know where you coming from Versus, but I'd rather be understandable about it.

If you have time to invest, then definitely you should buy it. By this time both games are being sold for a cheaper price.

They are actually really good games. Many people will tell you they aren't but why listen to them. Why listen to me. But seriously, pick them up and give them a shot. I loved them. Wouldn't recommend them if i felt otherwise.
