Hello to you RPG loving contingent of PSU. I am looking for an RPG game for my Vita but I really don't know too much about them these days. I see people talking about the Tales series and various others but I have no clue what's good and what would appeal to my tastes.
I want an RPG that offers a lot of customisation and upgrading. Having some kind of visual change on my character would be nice when I equip new armors and weapons, but this isn't essential. A decent roster size of usable characters would be nice too. maybe something with a few minigames thrown in.
Please tell me about some of the best RPGs available on Vita (PSP titles too if they are legendary), and maybe say a little about why they are good. I'd be very grateful as I trust your opinions on this matter.![]()

Ghost, you are about 2 months early, October 23rd or 30th the remake of Persona 4 is coming to Vita. So get that one for sure when it is out. But as of what is out right now, the only one I have is Disgaea 3. It kinda takes the idea of a school setting like the Persona Games but the story is pretty kidish oriented but not at the same time. The graphics are kind of kid oriented and the story is too. The combat is akin to Jan 'd ARC on PSP or like Final Fantasy tactics.
Damn you just missed a huge ATLUS PSP RPG sale on the PSN, it should have closed yesterday, you can check but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
PSP RPGs
Jan D ARC
Persona 3
Final Fantasy Crisis Core (mixture of turn-based and real-time battles)
But just get something to hold you over till Persona 4

Should I start at the beginning of the Persona series? Is the story continuous or self contained in each game?

P3P is a totally different story bro
P1 In my opinion is kinda clunky in movement but I still like it can be frustrating at times. Just my opinion I only have P1 and P3P.

I would go with zzKurozz as well, P3P is a different story and the first one is almost ridiculous. I love RPGs and I have never wanted to put one down cause it was frustrating but P1 made me do that. Go for P3, second opinion.
But I still say get P4 golden when it comes out cause it was a PS2 game that was remade for the VITA.Hard work never killed nobody but I ain't taking any chances

I'm still trying to attempt to play P1 as I already put in 4-5 hrs into it lol They were both on sale for 10 couldn't say no to that.
P4 is coming out in a couple of months might as well get use to at least one Persona game like P3P.

I finished Persona 1 and it was fine, but really, REALLY dated. P2 on the other hand feels a bit fresher, although it does feel a little old yet. I've yet to finish the 2nd one, but it's great so far. Can't wait to play my unopened P3.

August 21

October 30

Not many RPG's for the Vita yet but give it another year or so and it will have a decent library of them.

Ragnarok Odyssey has a Chinese+English version releasing soon. I assume (but can't find anywhere to verify) that the full game will have the option of English as a result? Anybody know?
Was going to import from NA but the C+E version supposedly has DLC that's included on the cart.
*Edit*
@OP. Have you had a look at Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions? Both PSP titles. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is also a bit of a no-brainer if you like customisation.Last edited by *goo; 08-11-2012 at 19:44.
