http://www.computerandvideogames.com...or-developers/Sony wants to amend the online approval policies for PS3 games, SCEA exec Adam Boyes has claimed, as part of a wider plan to make the platform easier for developers to work with.
Boyes said PlayStation was already working hard to improve the direct connection between developer and consumers.
He claimed that, while Sony still charges developers fees for game updates and patches, the company had become more lenient in recent years, particularly with regards to introducing freemium model options to studios.
"Originally, we had a different policy on free-to-play. Now we have free-to-play content and microtransactions," Boyes said in an interview with Venturebeat.
"We used to have certain requirements for publishing. Now we have none for developers to publish other content.
"You have to go through the process of submitting for concept approval, but all of these things are things that have naturally evolved over the console life-cycle. We're evolving more than ever now because the industry is evolving."
He added: "We're continuing to evolve our policies and improve the openness of the platform. I think we've done a great job of evolving policies and the platform and allowing these guys to have a direct path to the consumer."
The debate on developer certification fees flared up in July when it was revealed that Canada studio Polytron was not going to fix a critical bug in the XBLA platformer Fez because it didn't want to pay the fees

One of the many reasons I'm excited for the ps4(to keep it short and if I have to explain, I'd rather put u on my ignore list).
No thank you. I'll be gaming DRM free on a stronger console for $100 cheaper instead
Sony trolled MS. PS4 fans didn't do it. We just laughed at MS and anyone getting mad. $399 FTW!
