Why is it that there are a lot of games in recent years being released with Zombies in them?
This is NOT a thread to slate Zombie games. I just want to see what other people think on all this "Zombie Craze" that seems to be digging its claws into the gaming world very regular this past while.
A few games with Zombies include:
Dead Island
Dead Nation
Dead Rising
Lollipop Chainsaw
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
Call of Duty: Black Ops: Zombies
Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies
A lot of people seemed to like the Zombie mode in the Call Of Duty games. I for one wasnt a big fan. I did play it a few times with mates online and played it single player. I played a lot of Zombie type games but wouldnt be too fused on them really.
What are your thoughts and list a few other games if yous like.

Black ops zombies was fun to me because it was a good stress relieving killing zombies. Wave after wave seeing how long I could last before I die

Last Zombie game I got was for my iPhone and Nexus 7 pad... Dead Trigger!! lol Zombie games are actually getting more interesting for me. I'm about to spend some console time on this "genre".

A game were it's not " shoot the zbomes" but more of a " should i shoot these zombies and get a horde after me, or sneak around", sadly all those games are about kill zombies which makes it boring after a few hours. Ammo is important and if you are capable of doing so. A real risk/reward would add to the fun, like a military zone: best gear, very dangerous( zombies and other players) plus when you see other survivors should you be friendly and get a helpful hand or kill them and get their gear?
Luckily there is such a game (DAYZ) on the pc which is exactly like this but its a mod more than a game, so its not the best. Zombies( more infected, run at like 200 mph) are terrible, infested with hackers and has many issues but is in alpha though. Not the best engine either but still a good game/mod.
Plus war z and dead linger offer similar experiences but both are indie/small time and still a while away from release.
Dayz is a mod used on arma 2, when it was released it increased the sales of arma 2 by 500%, has over 950,000 unique ids( players) and was released like 4 months ago and with the help of 2 or 3 websites ( like pc gamer) it became massive. Shows ther is a real fanbase for this type of game. If your a pc gamer or play on the pc, you should check it out, very good and a good future for zombie survival fans

Most zombie games from known developers suck, they don't know what we really want. They think if they give us zombies and guns we are ok. My opinion anyway,

Saints Row 3...Thats another more recent game that springs to mind that has Zombies in it.
What i dont get is what is the fascination with devs putting Zombies into games when there's absolutely no need to.
Where did this come about from is what i'd like to know. Why Zombies????

Totally agree with you. It seems like it died down, but shit was it ever crazy in 2010-2011 with zombie games. Kinda overkill and same old shit. I want anal-probing UFO shooters next.

One of my favorites is Dead Rising. It's sort of open world and you do have to search for gear and food and there are times when it's easier to sneak around than to take on the hoard.

Thats one game i didnt like. I never played Dead Rising but i did get a lend of Dead Rising 2 off my brother and i couldnt get into the game at all. It was very boring or something like that. It just wasnt for me. Originally Posted by Old Man Gamer

Its not just recent games zombies have been pretty popularthrouhout gaming even timesplitters has zombies.

20 posts and not a single mention of Left 4 Dead ? That game is the best Co-op game you could ever play, requires team work and a lot of patience at times. The extraction on levels gets really funny. I've been thrown away from a Helicopter by a tank many many times and it never gets old
