Without a doubt. A lot of companies are international and if you are able to speak more than english then you have a definte advantage over someone who doesn't. That's only really true if you live in a non english speaking country. Most people who live in english speaking countries can't speak a second language, and even their english grammar has holes in it lol. Here in Vienna, if you can speak english and german you are in a very good standing. If you can speak russian as well (I will start learning russian soon), better yet, as many companies here have dealings with eastern europe.
Business english is in VERY high demand here. Once I get my qualification I will be able to charge €45 an hour...to teach my native language in a business context.

I'm currently a Business studies and Psychology student. I've done some retail and service jobs here and there, but nothing right now. So I'm just enjoying my summer break
. Upon graduating I would like to get into the marketing side of business. I also have an ambition to start my own business if I can get some decent corporate experience for a few years after graduating, as I feel that's vital
Dre, I've always wanted to learn Japanese, and unearth what I learnt in highschool when I got my C in German, as I've pretty much forgotten it all!
. If only you lived closer we could've been study buddies!!

Apparently factory jobs are high in demand now. Especially car manufacturing companies
And it seems a lot of younger adults are taking Psychology or law in college. I'm just hoping more stray from the arts (film) so I can have a chance at a decent job once I graduate.
True. Don't worry, one day we will meet, lover.

There are times where finding work is hard, I'll admit, but when it gets like that I take it upon myself to put myself out there and approach the public. I'll hand out business cards, print adverts in the local paper and just even ring round stating my intent and purpose. I'd say it works roughly 50% of the time. I've been doing freelance design for quite a few years now, doing it as a side job to my main work, but I've taken it up properly recently. It was at its worst when the recession first hit, nobody wanted to spend any money at all.
My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.

I work as IT bastard operator for the city of "Bamberg" - franconia / northern bavaria.
Payment in public service isn't outrageous but it's a safe job (recession can kiss my ass) and nobody tells me what to do.
I just have to keep things up and running, install software upgrades, fix broken PCs, migrate to win7 etc. etc.
Being responsible for a lot of different departments, from immigration to fire brigade, keeps things fresh and interessting.
I think i'll stay here till i finally win the lottery

Oh, don't get me wrong, I am in NO WAY shape or form and illegal immigrant sympathizer, not even close to it.
I have many year experience trying to find labor to work my family ranch near La Grange Texas... good luck trying to find people to pick up 2000 square bales on a Saturday/Sunday.
It's not misinformation or a load of BS, there are plenty of jobs MANY Americans simply don't want to do for those jobs pay, plain and simple. Sure, you can find people to do those jobs if you look long and hard, but those people are a dying breed."you are both the product and the architect of your environment"

Oh, yeah, I completely forgot you're not from the UK. My bad. I have a friend who lives in Sydney and she's said the economy over there isn't too bad. Finding a job has proven difficult for her but this should be different for you as you already have your job, you just need to find the clients.
My personal opinions are not endorsed by PSU. But they should be.

Full time student using the G.I. Bill. Left a major U.S. Bank a couple of years ago due to them being assholes. Was a dead end job and they had no qualms in letting you know it. Best thing I ever did was go back to school. FUCK. THAT. PLACE. I have a thousand horror stories from that institution. Here's to hoping my next job with a degree is better.
I don't really need a water cooler/remote control as of right now.
