Rocker for life… and for death. British musician John Graham, member of 1960s rock band The Ramrods was buried in a guitar-shaped coffin. The guitarist died at 67 from lung cancer last month.
The white guitar-shaped coffin was modeled on Grahams’ favorite Fender Stratocaster guitar, which he received as a present at the age of 15, The Daily Mail reports.
It took workers months to finish the coffin, which according to his widow was the most fitting tribute for her husband, who was obsessed with guitars.
John Graham was invited to join The Ramrods in 1963 and traveled all over the country supporting bands including the Animals, Gerry and the Pacemakers and others.
In 2001 John was diagnosed with a brain tumor and later with lung cancer, which eventually led to his death.
“It was a hard 11 years on him but he was a strong individual. He played all through his illness and only stopped six months ago,” his widow says.
