If you had children and they were pre teens or teenagers, would you allow them to watch today or year 2012's MTV? MTV has shows such as "16 & Pregnant", "Teen Mom", "Jersey Shore", "The Real World", and "Teen Wolf".
Or, would you only let him or her watch certain shows? Dad: "You can watch Teen Mom and 16 & Pregnant, but no Jersey Shore!" That's an example.
I wouldn't let my pre teen or teenager watch certain shows and Jersey Shore is one of them he or she couldn't watch.

I would buy my child Jersey Shore DVD's and run them on an endless loop 24 hours per day, in hopes of them one day, growing up to be as "talented" as Snooki.

IF and WHEN I have kids, the only television they're watching will be of the educational variety until they can prove they're responsible enough to not be indoctrinated by all the garbage put out on TV. I will be reintroducing the good old-fashioned books and will be quizzing them on them too. I will give them controversial things to read so that they can learn to think critically. They can forget about MTV altogether, let alone Sponge-Bob Square-Pants or shows which tell them it's okay to be stupid and not think for yourself.
I will be home-schooling them. Fuck the public and private school systems.

Wouldnt force the issue of not watching the shows but would hopefully have taught them good values on how to be decent and they would make their decisions to not want to be entertained by such low quality cheap proramming.
I guess we all remember the time when MTV did only music.

I will let them watch anything that is approved by me or the wife. Channel doesn't matter.

If they wanted to, but I would constantly mock them for doing so and warn them that the "stars" of those shows are all retarded and they run the risk of becoming retarded if they watch it...unless of course they are only watching to mock it.

I wouldn't have a television in my house. The average Americans wastes way too much of their lives staring into a piece of furniture

On another note i really hope this stuff isn't as popular anymore down the line. If i had a kid right now, hopefully tv changes 15 years down the line. I don't understand people's infatuation with reality tv. Since when did being a horrible person become so popular. Can't stand tv nowadays

It depresses me sometimes that everyone I know including myself mocks these shows, but the fact of the matter is they wouldn't be on TV if no one was watching them...there must be A LOT of stupid people out there.

I would educate my teens, that what you see on them shows are fake and not the way the world works. They are evil shows and send out the wrong messages all the time

Absolutely not! I won't even have cable in the house. If they want to watch MTV, then they pay for it themselves!
I want to raise future scientists or businessmen; productive people in society. I don't want my daughter to be on TV for having a baby at 16.

20 years ago, I would have. That's when MTV meant MUSIC television. Instead, they did MTV2 for that, giving regular cable users some piece of shit that was once a golden channel with retarded reality TV shows like Jersey Shore and the next Laguna-Beach like show.

Its a false hope and one that teens fall for. Believing that this is how you should be. It needs to stop or the teen universe will be destroyed

If MTV was back to where it was when I was a teenager, when they actually were just a pure music channel. Also when back in the days when they had great unplugged shows, yes I would let my teenager watch.
Instead, I'll do what my dad did to me, opened my ears to music the likes of the Beatles, Bee Gees, Eagles and many more. I would offer my teenager my generation of music too, when before mainstream music actually sounded good, but none of the music from this new generation.

MTV is the most useless channel. Remember when it actually had music?

The shows encourages finding fortune and fame for 10 minutes by being useless attention seeking sluts who champion stupidity.
A kid saves family by rewiring a cut phoneline and calling the police on robbers won't make top news now, instead Snooki (or whoever teens talk about now) having an affair will be the top news.

I would allow them to watch that stuff, but hopefully I'd have raised them to watch better things of their own free will.

Please, be responsible and don't worry about kids. Ever.
Yes, you can try and break away from the norms and that's totally understandable. However, you seem to be the type of person that would set up a dictatorship in your own four walls, which wouldn't benefit the children at all.
What you intend is counterproductive at best. Not allowing them to visit any school will raise them as anti-social outcasts.
