Coincidentally I just bought the 2008 PoP
Google Translation:
PR department of the French publisher Ubisoft made a serious blunders: journalists accidentally showed footage from the teaser clip of the new game in the universe of Prince of Persia. However, in an eerie and without any details, but the fact remains that the development of the next game in the popular adventure series is in full swing. In the presented frame, we saw a bald warrior (his face is hidden shadow), armed to the teeth and "packaged" in a strong leather armor.
This story would have ended well, if not in the camp of Ubisoft showed someone with a very long tongue. The source within the company, said that the announcement of the new Prince of Persia was to be held behind closed doors and only for a select group of English-language press. Now the publisher is in a difficult position: to work as originally planned, will not work - fans of the series will eat with giblets. So it seems to be a full-blown announcement is still to take place.
And now a couple of parts. First, the next Prince of Persia will not have any relation to the previous series. None of the successful trilogy, nor to the secondary and boring Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. If you remember, the latter was to become the first game of the new trilogy. But the low ratings from critics and sluggish sales have forced Ubisoft to abandon further work on a series of clearly failed. Now we are waiting for something closer in spirit to such TV series as the God of War and even Assassin's Creed. Second, the new release will take place not earlier than the end of next year. According to a source inside the company, publishing barely started working on the game. So that at least half a year to develop them still want it.

The series need to go for more "adventure" than "platforming"
Have an epic narrative in place and make the world interesting and bring back the cool combat from the ps2 trilogy

Ohh I hope it is true. I don't mind that it is going to be a completely new thing. I just hope it captures the spirit of Sands of Time and Prince of Persia 2008.

As I'm playing through PoP 2008 right now, I noticed that the game has much more personality and flavour than most games in this gen. However it relies too much on platforming. I would have liked it they kept the water colour cel shaded look

I think Prince of Persia is one game where combat doesn't need to be the main focus (not against it being deep or anything, I just think it doesn't need to be.)
I was completely fine with the combat of Sands of Time. I did like Warrior Within but didn't like the overall tone/attitude of the game...

I think you might be the first person I know that preferred Warrior Within over Sands of Time. lol
They just need to bring combat up to the same standards as the story and platforming of the trilogy. PoP 2008 over simplified things, Forgotten Sands seemed more hack and slash then a PoP should be.

I never played sands of time. I watched mu cousins playit after I had beaten WW and was thinking to myself "WW did this so much better" because WW iterated on everything sands of time did. all the time manipulation was much better in WW, and the combat was more effective aswell.
However I can't comment on the story aspectLast edited by itachi73378; 08-06-2012 at 06:15.

I certainly hope this is an improvement over Forgotten Sands. That game was terrible. The game over all felt so ridged and stiff.

I remember the images for the trailer as it was rumored to be unveiled at E3.
I'm not really excited though. They've already rebooted the series once before.Last edited by Blacksite; 08-06-2012 at 20:48.

I just beat PoP 2008 today and now I'd rather have them make a sequel to that game than this.

Screens are giving me an Assassin's Creed vibe. Not seeing his face, shots of him among a huge crowd in the middle of a densely populated town, older time period, change in lead character, made by Ubisoft, "Judgement is Coming" alluding to revenge which almost always alludes to assassination, etc. Just an observation from a themeatic/visual point of view.
Anyways, I'm curious to see how this next game will be. Not sure why PoP is rebooted again...I thought the 2008 reboot looked promising in concept (even if the game was bad) for a sequel but I guess it was just too much of a flop for Ubisoft to give it a chance.Last edited by Bio; 08-09-2012 at 05:40.

Just a matter of time before they start pumping a new one out every 6 months like Assassin's Creed.
Savages lol.

They are only using the name of PoP to draw in what existing fans of the series remain. You have to admit, its pretty tough starting out from scratch and publishers don't like risks.
