08-07-2012 #29"I think all those developers who are saying, "We don’t want to do a PS3 game," or "It’s really difficult to do it," should shut up and make their games. If you have time to complain about it, then you should be spending your time working on getting the most from the hardware."

Agree 100%, everything takes inspiration from somewhere. Some more than others. So what? Doesn't mean they are always going to be horrible.
Me too, its the kind of thing I would always talk with friends about in school, and how cool it would be to have Cloud vs Sora vs Dante and stuff like that

Wait... I thought Playstation fans have been asking for this for ages. Why all of a sudden people are complaining about it being a rip-off? I thought it was the whole point?

Never heard of this game or seen anyone complain. Some people were saying Tomb Raider was copying Uncharted with their new game but if I'm not mistaken I think most people have WELCOMED it. Doesn't bother me one bit. If a game formula is successful and I enjoy them I am all for more games like that. SSB is a succcessful game. It does what it does very well and if PSABR is done properly I think it will be as well. It will be different because the characters are different, settings different, and the moves are different. Its even exclusive to a total different game console. All it can do is push Nintendo to keep making their games better and visa versa for whatever this game is taking inspiration from Uncharted. I don't think it scares Naughty Dog....if anything it will just push them to make their game so much better that cheap knock offs will look and play like cheap knock offs...and people won't care for them and will still buy Uncharted.
To me that is the thing. Copying is flattering..but also a way for you to up your game and make them look cheap and played. People will play it and if it doesn't live up they will just say this game feels lame...its like this game....but not as good. And those gamers then go back to who does it best. Thats how I see whatever game this Unearthed is and same with PSABR. If they don't do a good job people will go back to SSB. If they do a great job we have a great game to play...and SSB will have to up their game...and then we get even better games. If not...well that is just the evolution of gaming. Duke Nukem and Wolfenstein were once standard barrers of FPS and now...well not so much. We are happy people copy ideas and game types and improve....else we would basically had to wait like 10 years for a new game lol! So many games are like this...PSABR is trying to fill a niche that hasn't been serviced on a PS console. Many people myself included are PS only gamers. We welcome it...and could care less what this guy thinks. Again...I think he is just a little butt hurt he actually will have competition in that genre...meaning he may not be able to phone in a new sequel..and have to work to make it funner.

I clearly don't know how much they have copied from the Mash Bro's series but judging from the videos and screenshots, it looks like a complete copy of the game so I can somewhat understand people's concerns.
Playstation fans have asked for a game like this though and I guess that they used a formula that is safest to work with and one that could appeal to all audiences. I still prefer an open world RPG with all the Playstation mascots.

I'm not into fighting games but that was a poor move tagging the video like that. Build momentum for the game on their own, don't ride off SSB's back. I can't help but feel like this and SSB are very much the same. As if Sony is actually losing a lot of customers to SSB and needs direct competition with it.
Edit: Wow I watched same gameplay of this and it's looks so similar in SSB. I can see why people say the game is a ripoff of SSB.Last edited by podsaurus; 08-07-2012 at 16:44.

I agree...I think something like Kingdom Hearts but with the mascots would be great....but that is a hard line to walk...imagine Snake and Kratos and Nathan Drake and Ratchet...be interesting but I don't think it would be easy to implement.

Uncharted is its own game. Just because you run through jungles looking for treasure doesn't mean it's really a Tomb Raider knock off. I think people realize that so they aren't up in arms as much as when it comes to Smash Bros. vs. Sony Bros. here. That and Tomb Raider was a PS franchise to begin with and so is Uncharted. And if anything the new TR reboot is a carbon copy of Uncharted.
This is more of a Nintendo vs Sony thing. Where sad Nintendo fanboys are lashing out. Nothing more nothing less.

Yup, as is Tomb Raider.
But it is. Not a big deal though. The entire industry is that way.Just because you run through jungles looking for treasure doesn't mean it's really a Tomb Raider knock off.
Well, time has passed since UC first came out. They were up in arms back then though.I think people realize that so they aren't up in arms as much as when it comes to Smash Bros. vs. Sony Bros. here.
It actually was on Sega Saturn first, then followed by PC as well as PS. Xbox followed. That and Tomb Raider was a PS franchise to begin with and so is Uncharted.
TR is a reboot of itself (or pitfall)And if anything the new TR reboot is a carbon copy of Uncharted.

If you want to be pedantic about things the Saturn version may have been released first but that's because it went into manufacturing first hence why it was released 3 weeks before the other versions (EU only, elsewhere it was released all at the same time), that's right THREE WEEKS - hardly what I'd honestly call "released first", it was just a manufacturing issue back in the 90's, the Playstation, PC, and MAC versions were released in a few weeks of the EU Saturn release.

I know how and where the franchise came about. Been playing them since day one, just like pong

If you want to get pedantic, the franchise was best known at the start being on the PC, back in the PC hey days. Man we were addicted. Not PS. Either way, the franchise is known to be played on PC, Xbox, Mac, PS as well as Nintendo. A decade before UC made light of day. And a decade after pitfall made light of day
