Microsoft executives have been militant in refusing to comment on whether they are working on a new Xbox, but last week came an accidental confirmation that the next Xbox is definitely in development.
The very senior body at Microsoft, Brian Hall General Manager of Windows Live, was interviewed on The Verge’s podcast by Nilay Patel. The discussion was focused on the launch of Outlook.com where he said it was being released for a new wave of MS products including ‘the New Xbox.’
The transcribed quote is:
“We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about sixteen years, we obviously have Exchange, and Outlook, that people use at work. We just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8 with the new version of Office with the New Windows phone and the new Xbox.”You can hear it on the YouTube video of the podcast between 1m 17s and 1m 41 seconds.
Granted it is not a lot of information. But mark this day down on your calendar because Microsoft have, albeit accidentally, confirmed the next Xbox!

Did he just say that the new Xbox is compatible with Windows 8 because that would support the rumors and leaks ONQ had been posting?
