Seems like most people agree with a $400 price point, then.
But it makes sense. The Blu-ray player and Cell processor (which everyone was talking about back then) likely drove up the price of the PS3.Steam & PlayStation Network: BlacksitePSU | 3DS Friend Code: 1349-4916-2054

449.99 I'm expecting the Wii U to be 299.99. I'd be ok with 450 to. 500 if cloud gaming is included with the PS4

Knowing Sony and going by there motto of "being the best, not the first" they will likely go for cutting edge specs. That will make the price $449 a little higher than xbox 720's probably
what's interesting is that theoretically xbox should be more expensive since the new Kinect 2 will be bundled with the console.

Where is the option for 599 us dollars?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Using an inflation calculator, PS3 launched in the UK at Ł425 which means it would have sold for Ł510 if in today's financial climate, because things are now 20% more expensive in the UK then back in 2005 on average.
http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/b...nged-1900.html
So the PS4 will probably be cheaper relatively then the PS3, but once you factor in inflation the number of green notes you hand to the shop will be about the same.Last edited by Super_Lilith; 08-30-2012 at 21:49.

I think with recent events we can expect cloud gaming on the PS4 which would be new to me I've never used a cloud gaming service.

$500 bucks. Production will probably cost them $525. The typically thing to do is sell at a loss. Ps3 sold at $600 bucks but cost $900 or so thanks to Blu-Ray. PS2, and X360 cost about $525 to produce and sold at $400 bucks. PS3 would have as well without Blu-Ray. Sony would likely try to capitalize on selling at $500 bucks since PS4 likely won't have super expensive Blu-Ray production costs it will likely cost $525 bucks to produce. It would mean Sony would reach their profit faster.
Blu-Ray XL. Which regular Blu-Rays are compatible with so it will be cheap. 100 GB and 130 GB discs. Runs up to 14x :P Although 6x is most common.Last edited by DeadlyFire; 08-30-2012 at 22:37.

$500.
I don't think there'll be a new format to push (if there is, whoever is pushing it will be silly as people are just getting used to blu-rays as it is; regardless will be unwilling to start buying into a new format).
So assuming they stay at BD-ROM, but increase everything else, it'll be around $500 USD. Which would be fair if they made it beastly. Anything more, is probably not launch day material for me. Not that I'd buy it at launch at this stage. Still have a few games to play.
Who knows though, if they release with a good lineup, I might bite.

I'm thinking around 450 if not less. Too bad we know nothing about this thing.

Going above $400 for Sony will be dangerous, considering the fact that the ps3 was priced at $500-$600 for 20gb and 60gb versions at launch time. They are
Trailing with amount of consoles sold worldwide in regards to the ps3. They don't want that to happen again, so they are going to price the ps4 wisely.

considering the blu-ray was basically the #1 point of the PS3, that is why it was expensive in the first place and overpriced. but honestly, even when DVD first came out, just for a DVD player it costed a bit over $1,000. the fact that blu-ray comes out on a console with the price of $500 for a PS3 or $500 for a stand alone blu-ray player shows that they had to of lost money. Technically that stand alone blu-ray player should have costed around 1,000 premium price, just like the DVD player.
Because it's now old tech, it's been out for a few years, they now have more resources to put into the PS4 to make it a better gaming machine Vs the PS3. If the PS3 didn't have the blu-ray player in it and just a DVD player, I am sure the system would have been a lot better in terms of performance.
I highly doubt the PS4 will be priced at $500 unless of course they are really stepping it up to match current PC mid range tech, other then that I believe it will be $400 or so.

I'm getting a feeling the PS4 in terms of a pure gaming console gives me a Sega dreamcast vibe....just a pure awesome gaming console!
