Personally, I think Sony will be going for a $400 price point. They've always come across as a company that wants to market their video game console for the adult demographic as well as wanting to showcase the best possible visuals. But they also realize that they priced the PlayStation 3 a couple hundred dollars too high, given the negative feedback from consumers.

With the current economy and whatnot, I also think that Sony should price their next console at a $400 price point. Although there is another option. Even though at first I might of shared my concerns, a monthly annual contract could help as well. It's the same idea that Microsoft is pulling with their Xbox 360 and while it sounds a bit of a pain to be in contract, it's appealing to the casuals eyes. We all know that us core gamers will easily shell out big bucks for a new piece of hardware but alternatives should be a must for all consumers.

I have a feeling it will be super expensive... but I hope I'm wrong. it seems they have learned from their mistakes... but the Vita was still pretty damn pricey. Not that I'm complaining I bought a Vita and PS3 day 1 price doesn't worry me I love PS products, but yeah., hopefully I am wrong

I'm with you OP. Sony won't risk launching a new, expensive to produce and purchase console until the tech has lowered its price. I'm sure we could be seeing PS4 this year, but for budget reasons, Sony is probably holding on one or two more years.

$400 for sure. Sony will not get close to that $600 mark that hurt them so badly with the PS3.

Of course it will be expensive. I'm sure it will be at least 450 dollars/euros. My bet is 500-550 dollars/euros.
To be honest, I hope they go for the best hardware possible and make it a little bit more expensive. I don't care if "Sony is smart" business wise, I care for games. What the hell have gamers become? Bureaucrats? Big companies like Sony have no problems making money. Don't waste your thoughts on that. Personally, I hope for the best console possible. That would mean: 550 US dollars/euros. I'd buy it up to a limit of 600 Dollars/Euros. But it has to be a great machine, otherwise I'll wait. Maybe I'll wait anyways, because as much as I loved my PS3 60GB fat launch model, it broke in early 2012. So I bought a PS3 slim k-model 320gb, and it's great. Very silent and beautiful. And there's still a lot of games to play in 2012 and 2013. I'll be busy until mid-2014.Kratos throws a grenade. Grenade kills 50 undead soldiers. Then the grenade explodes.

Yeah. Probably around $400.

by the way PS3 work out, 425 pounds was 666 dollars, so for 299 pounds I'm guessing 470 dollars or 400 because they usually cheaper anyway
or but it be anything under 400, going for 299 in both territories would mean they'll lose 110 pounds on top of default losses for each unit sold in the US, basically 190 quid for a PS4
299/399 seems the best bet.

ugh, there is no way they will price the PS4 at $600.. The only reason the PS3 was expensive in the first place was because of the bluray player, that's all. now since that has been out for quite a few years it's cheaper and more cost effective in terms of using it for a new console. so a $600+ price point is so unrealistic.

I think they'll be at $499, so I voted for the $500.

I think $400 is the sweet spot. But if the jump in power is as big as some think it to be, I can see it being up to $500. Regardless, I'll probably be waiting for a price drop either way. I've still got a lot to enjoy from my PS3, and I'll be getting a Wii U as well.
