Yeah its not as simple as just dropping Japan with the amount of developers there, if it was a small European country with 2 or 3 devs then sure, but Japan still has giants like Capcom, Konami, Namco etc.

Ahhh, the first sentence in the Microsoft Prologue of Fairy Tale.

I doubt they'll ever be able to get a foothold in that country... just doesn't seem like it'll happen.

I wonder if MS pulled out of Japan would chase these devs away. I think they would still make games for the 360 since they can still profit from it.

The only American electronics company with great success is Apple. I don't think MS will ever be successful in Japan.
I don't need no stinkin' signature!

Or perhaps Microsoft could work with a japanese manufacturer like Toshiba for their nextbox sku in Japan. Name it something different from their american product and work on opening a japanese division instead of simply throwing money at it. Would it change everything..no...I seriously doubt it...but would it make it a viable market...possibly. There are other options that they could make....that isn't an easy market to enter...but the way they go about it....to me its pretty half-hearted and egotistical.
