Laws were originally made to clarify the constitution's intent. The intent of the constitution is to limit the power of government. It's not meant to restrain the people unless their actions violate another's rights. Personally, I think we should have any weapon we want so long as we can afford it, maintain it, use it responsibly and as a last resort against tyranny. You nor anyone else has the right to dictate what weapon I can or can't have. The constitution doesn't give you that right, nor does it give that right to anyone else. You're just gonna have to get over yourself and accept the fact that your rights only extend to the point where they violate another's rights.

Wait. You're telling me that guns are people now? A gun is an inanimate object. It is incapable of cognitive thought. It doesn't show emotion nor is it capable of anything that life is. Your assertion is incorrect to say the least and your logic behind banning guns is grossly flawed. You nor anyone else has the right to ban what weapon I may have.

You are allowed and yet not allowed certain weapons. So to keep the 2snd amendment, you have to lose a bit of it

The wording is irrelevant. The fact is, guns aren't the problem, period. People on the other hand, are, period.
Incorrect. The constitution makes no distinction about what weapons you may have. It only makes the distinction for the reason behind allowing the right to bear arms. The purpose for the second amendment is as a last line of defense against a tyrannical government. This includes but is not limited to sidearms, shotguns, assault rifles, grenades and their launchers, vehicles such as personnel carriers, tanks, helicopters, jet fighters, bombers, aircraft carriers, destroyers, missile cruisers, submarines and a host of other weaponry that allows people to throw off government which has become destructive to the means and rights of a free and secure state. If I feel I need an F-22, armed with sidewinders, bunker busters and 6000 rounds of 50 caliber cannon rounds, I should be allowed to have it.

I'm kind of in agreement with Morg here. The weapons themselves are a non issue, it's the people behind them. We have a failing as a culture if people are no longer using them responsibly. It isn't the weapons fault.
Additionally yes, the 2nd Amendment was all about being able to resist oppression and defend yourself. An armed populace is a respected one.
Instead, we're being trampled by an overbearing federal government and Americans are 'convinced' that weapons are increasingly needless and that there is nothing wrong with our country whatsoever. Our government is our friend.

the 2nd amendment is a statement of the right to bare arms and yet the government is trying to control that right for their favor and against the people. Its weird how they preach the amendment and yet try to destroy it
